From the 1697 Higher Court Minutes (Phillips vs Lerry) we find that William Seares' widow, Ann (Jennings) Seares, intermarried with Paul Lathum (born circa 1646). According to North Carolina Headrights A List of Names, 1663-1744 by Caroline B. Whitley, on March 22, 1680 Paul Latham of Albemarle County was granted 250 acres for transporting 5 persons into the colonies, one of which was Willm. Seares. Ann was the daughter of William Jennings who made his will in Jan. 1686. He left his daughter, Ann, "my Indian woman Darkes".
