Currituck County Wills
In the name of God Amen, January 17th 1784, I Abel SIKES of Currituck County and the State of North Carolina being weak in body but of parfet mind and memory Thanks to God, do make constitute and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say first I recommend my soul into the hands of God who gave it to me desiring his most gracious acceptance of it nothing doubting but at the resurrection I shall receive the same again and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a christian burial at the descretion of my executors and as touching my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I do give and dispose of in the following manner and form,
Imprimis: I give and bequeath to my well beloved Son Henry SIKES my land,
Item: I give and bequeath to my three Sons Henry SIKES and Benjamin SIKES and John SIKES all the rest of estate to be equally divided amongst them at their discrecion my well beloved Wife Charity SIKES, not disturbing nor interrupting her in her lifetime, excepting one ewe and lamb I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elisabeth BARTLET, one ewe and lamb I leave my Wife Charity SIKES and my Son Henry SIKES executors to this my Last Will and Testament disallowing any other wills, beeds, legacies, or _____ ratifying this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament.
