In the name of God amen. I Joab SOREY of the County of Currituck and State of North Carolina, being weak in body, but of sound mind and memory make and advise this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following viz.
1st. I give to my Wife Dinah SOREY two beds and furniture one bufat and all therein two tables and thirteen setting chairs, one looking glass, one clock, one gigg and harness one linnen wheel and reel one loom and harness and all the kitchen furniture and one great wheel, two head of horses one yoke of steers and cart and two chains, one horse cart and harness four cows and yearlings first choice, all the hogs which is fed at the place called Bank’s and also the gang which is fed at home, eight head of sheep and eighty barrels of corn and eighteen hundred weight of pork, also one negro woman named Nancy and old Daniel, one woman named Pleasant also little Daniel to her and her heirs forever also one negro girl named Eliza to her and her heirs forever.
2nd. I lend the plantation whereon I now live to my Wife Dinah during her life time.
3rd. I give to my Brother Dennis SOREY one negro man Sie and the blacksmith tools one boy named Lewis also one boy named Jack and the plantation now in his possession which I bought from Wm. HOLT to him and his heirs forever also one mule.
4thly. I give Mariah GISBORN one negro girl named Linner, one bed and furniture one linnen wheel.
5thly I give and plantation and land whereon I now live at the death of my Wife Donah SOREY to my three nephews Early DAUDGE, Rilen DAUDGE, and Carter BRADLY to them and their heirs forever.
6thly I leave the residue of my estate not given away to be sold and after paying my just debts, the remainder if any, to be equally divided between my Wife and my Brother Dennis SOREY.
7th. I appoint my Brother Dennis SOREY my whole and sole executor to this my Last Will and Testament revoking and disannulling all other wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this December 24th 1830.

This Last Will and Testament of Joab SOREY was exhibited and proved in open Court by the oaths of Joel GISBORN and Isaiah ETHERIDGE subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered and recorded. When the executor thereto came into open Court qualified in due form of law and ordered that letters testamentary issue.
