Currituck County Wills

John West, Sr.
Feb. 15, 1854 - Nov. 25, 1854 Camden Co., NC

In the name of God Amen.  I John WEST of the State of North Carolina and County of Currituck being of sound and disposing mind do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows --

Item 1st  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth WEST My farm on which I Now reside and all of the land I own on Morse's Point also Negroes named Judith, Margaret and Georgianna to her and her heirs forever.

Item 2nd  I lend to my Elizabeth wife Elizabeth WEST Negroes named Miles, Jane and young girl named Margarett and at her death these Negroes is to go to her children now living.

Item 3rd  I give to my wife Elizabeth WEST the choice of two beds and Five Cows and Calves to her and her heirs forever.

Item 4th  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Polena A. BROCK Negroes named Toney, Peggy, Lotte, and Jesse to her and her heirs forever.

Item 5th  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Minerva WEST Negroes named Phebe, John, Sementa and Jim to her and her heirs forever.

Item 6th  I give and bequeath to my son in law Henry M. BROCK all of My land which I own on Mackies Island to him and his heirs forever.

Item 7th  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Margaret STONE Two hundred dollars to her and her heirs forever.

Item 8th  I leave the ballance of My Estate to be sold and the proceeds of the sale to be equally divided between My Wife Elizabeth My Daughters Polena A. BROCK, Minerva WEST and Grand daughter Georgett MUNDEN to them and their heirs forever.

Item 9th  I give and bequeath to My Wife Elizabeth WEST and Daughters Polena A. BROCK, Minerva WEST and grand daughter Georgett MUNDEN all of my Notes and Cash to be equally divided between them and them and their heirs forever.

Lastly I Nominate, Constitute and appoint My Son-inlaw Henry M. BROCK Executor to this my last Will and Testament Revoking all former Wills by me made.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Caused my seal to be affixed this 15th day of Feb 1854.

    I John H. MITCHELL Clerk of Camden the Superior Court of Law of Camden County do hereby certify that this paper writing is admitted to probate as the last will & testement of Jno. WEST decd, having been duly proved by the testimony of the subscribing witnesses at said Term.  Witness my hand & seal Nov. 25, 1854.

In the Matter of John WESTs Will:  A transcript of the foregoing ___ being sent to this Court house the Superior Court of Law of Camden County, with the anexed? will is produced and it is ordered that said anexed? will be duly recorded and filed agreeable to the proceedends amended? by said Superior Court.  Let these proceedings including the transcripts also be recorded.  At the same time Henry M. BROCK Exr therein named appears and is qualified & being a resident of Virginia gives security agreeable to Law.  Elizabeth WEST - widow of said John WEST
