Currituck County Wills
In the Name of God Amen this Eight Day of June one Thousand Seven hundred and fifty Seven I Luke WHITE [of] the County of Currituck in the pro[v]ince of North Carolina being weak in Body But of Sound and perfet memory Thanks be to Almighty God but Calling to mind The Certainty of Death and the Mortallity of my Body and Knowing that it is Appointed for All men once to Die Doe make and ordain This my Last Will And Testament In manner and form following ---
First of all my Will and Desiar is that all my Lawfull Debts be paid and Discharged.
Imprimis I Give and Bequeath unto my Son Vinson WHITE one hundred and Sixty Acers of Land To him and [his] heirs for Ever it was formaly Called Absalom POINER.
Item I Lend unto my Daughter Christan WHITE Thirty Acers of Land during her Natural life to be laid out in by the Clearing the place they Call the Beach Trees thet is Provided the sd Christain will Live on the Sd Land.
Item I Lend Unto my Daughter Keziah ELLES wife of Michel ELLES thirty Acers of Land to be laid out where the Sd Michel ELLES now liveth provided yt he ye sd Michel ELLS with Keziah his wife Shall live on the sd Thirty Acers of Land if not my will and Desiar is that my Daughter Christan WHITE have the Said Thirty Acers of Land whereon the Sd ELLES now Liveth during her Natural Life.
Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my Daughter Mary TOMSON Wife of John TOMSON one Negro garle Named Cillar To her and her heirs for Ever.
Item I Give and Bequeath Unto my son Joshua WHITE
Seventyone hundred & Thirty Acers of Land it Being the Residue of the Plantation I now live on to him and his heirs for Ever As Also my will and Desier is that the Sd Vinson WHITE my Son Do help his Brother to build a Dwelling on the Sd Land Joshua WHITE.Item I Lend Unto my well Beloved Wife Margrett WHITE During her Natural life all the Rest of my Estate be it what kind so Ever it will
and my will And Desire is that after her Deceased that my Estate be Equally Devided Between my Children Vinson WHITE Joshua WHITE Christan WHITE Mary TOMPSONor During her widowhood Then I Give and Bequeath to my Son Vinson WHITE my Negro Boy Jeffry to him and his heirs for Ever.Item I Give and Bequeath to my son Joshua WHITE my Negro Boy Coll to him and his heirs for Ever and further my will is thet after my wife Margreat WHITE Decse the Rest of my Estate be Equally Devided Between my Children.
Item And Lastly I Do Appoint my Well Beloved Wife Margreat WHITE with my Two Sons Vinson WHITE and Joshua WHITE my hole and Sole Executrix and Executors of this my Last will and Testament In witness whereof I the Testator have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day and Date Abbove Writen.

These may Certify that William BRAY & Joseph POYNER two of the subscribing Evidences to the within Will appeared in open Court and made Oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God that they were Present and saw Luke WHITE the Elder sign Seal publish pronounce and declare the within to be and contain his last Will & Testament and that the said Luke WHITE was then and at that Time of sound & disposing Memory And that they also Saw John WHEATLEY the other subscribing Evidence sign his Proper Mark thereto at the Same Time.
Then also appeared Vinson & Joshua WHITE Executors of the within Will in open Court and took the Executors Oath in due Form of Law.
Ordered that the Honble Richard SPAIGHT Esquire Secretary of this Province have Notice thereof that Letters Testamentory may Issue thereon as the Law directs.
Witness Wm MEARNS Clk Curt[On the back of the will is written: Luke WHITE SENrs Last Will proved &c; Vinson & Joshua WHITE Extrs qualified; Recorded in the Secretary office Book No 10 Page 176 & 177 &c.]
