Edmund C. Williams
June 3, 1892 - Sept. 5, 1892

In the name of God Amen or be it remembered that I Edmund C. WILLIAMS of Knotts Island of the county of Currituck and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of human life do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say:--First That my executrix hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends and pay all funeral expenses.

Item.  Item [sic] I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth E. WILLIAMS one horse, cattle and hogs, household and kitchen furniture and all of the poultry.

Item I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth E. WILLIAMS my growing crop of corn and all of my farming implements of every description and all of my sweet potatoes & Irish potatoes.

I give and bequeath to John E. MUNDEN all of my land situated between the land of Elias WILLIAMS and James E. WHITE but in case he should die childless, I give the said land to Carrie L. WHITE's children.

Item I leave it obligatory and binding on John E. MUNDEN to pay to Carrie L. WHITE seventy five dollars to pay to her on account of their being no buildings on her land.

I leave my wife Elizabeth E. WILLIAMS my lawful executrix.

In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal the 3rd day of June A.D. 1892.

  PROBATE OF WILL WITH EXAMINATION OF WITNESSES THERETO

State of North Carolina}    SS.  In the Superior Court
     Currituck County    }
    A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Edmund C. WILLIAMS, deceased, is exhibited before me, the undersigned, Clerk of the Superior Court for said County, by [blank] the execut___ therein mentioned; and the due execution thereof by the said [blank], is proven by the oath and examination of Elias WILLIAMS and S.J. WATERFIELD the subscribing witnesses thereto who being duly sworn, doth depose and say, and each for himself deposeth and saith that he is a subscribing witness to the paper-writing now shown him, purporting to be the last will and testament of Edmund C. WILLIAMS and that the said Edmund C. WILLIAMS in the presence of this deponent subscribed his name at the end of said paper-writing which is now shown as aforesaid and bears date of the 3d day of June 1892.
    And the deponent further saith, that the said Edmund C. WILLIAMS the testator aforesaid, did, at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid, declare the said paper-writing so subscribed by him and exhibited by his last will and testament, and this deponent did thereupon subscribe his name at the end of said will as an attesting witness thereto as aforesaid, and the said Edmund C. WILLIAMS was of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a will, and not under any restraint to their knowledge information or belief of this deponent: And further these deponents say not.

ORDER FOR PROBATE OF WILL

State of North Carolina }    In Superior Court Before H.B. ANSELL, Clerk
     Currituck County     }    In Re Estate of Edmund C. WILLIAMS, deceased
    A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Edmund C. WILLIAMS, dec'd., is exhibited in open court for probate by Elizabeth E. WILLIAMS, the executrix therein named; and the due execution thereof by the said Edmund C. WILLIAMS dec'd. is duly proven by the oath and examination of Elias WILLIAMS and S.J. WATERFIELD, subscribing witnesses thereto: and it is further shown to the satisfaction of the Court by said witnesses that the said Edmund C. WILLIAMS was at the time of making said will, of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a will and under no restraint to their knowledge, information or belief.
    It is thereupon considered, adjudged and decreed, that said proof is sufficient and according to law and that said paper writing is and contains the last will and testament of Edmund C. WILLIAMS, dec'd.  And on motion it is ordered that said will be admitted to probate and recorded in the Book of Wills of Currituck County as such filed as provided by law in the office of Clerk of Superior Court of said County.
    It is further ordered that said Elizabeth E. WILLIAMS be allowed to qualify as executrix as provided by law and enter upon the discharge of the duties imposed by said trust.  Dated this 5th day of September 1892.

EXECUTOR'S OATH

State of North Carolina}    SS.  In the Superior Court
    Currituck County     }
    I, Elizabeth E. WILLIAMS do solemnly swear or (affirm) that I believe this writing to be and contain the last Will and Testament of Edmund C. WILLIAMS deceased; and that I will well and truly execute the same by first paying her debts and then her legacies, as far as the said estate shall extend, or the law will charge me; and that I will well and faithfully execute the office of an executor agreeable to the trust and confidence reposed in me, and according to law, so help me God.
