Currituck County Wills
[Note: There does not appear to be a will for Mathias W. WILSON in the Currituck County will books, but a will is mentioned for him in the minutes of the Currituck County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions. It's possible that a will might be found among the records of the Edenton District Superior Court c. March 1814].
Dec. 4, 1813
The Last Will and Testament of Mathias W. WILSON decd. was exhibited in open court for probate by Joshua HALSTEAD the Exor. &c. where Mathias WRIGHT and Samuel W. SALYEAR [sic] heirs at law and &c. of the said Mathias W. WILSON came in and contested the probate of the said will whereupon an issue were made up and by the intervention of a jury were established as the last will and testament of the said Mathias W. WILSON. Whereupon the defendants being dissatisfied with the said determination &c. ... prayed an appeal ... to the Superior Court on the first Monday in March next ... the said Mathias WRIGHT and Lemuel W. SAWYER [sic] entering into bond with Willoughby DOZIER & Samuel ROBINSON securities in the sum of 100 pounds &c.
