This page actually came before the Title page as did the next image too.

This page was very faint but visible when it was blown up. Buenavista Mann wrote her name vertically several times--sometimes as Buena Vista.

The significance of this date is a mystery but is possibly the date the family moved to Smith's Creek
They were in Pamlico Co. by 1880 [see census record] [see Smith Creek on Topo Map]
