Application of Letitia E. Midgett
for Child's pension of
JOSEPH WILSON

NC Dare Co.
    On this 3 day of July AD 1897 personally appeared before me, a U.S. Con____ of the Eastern Dist. of NC in and for the County and State aforesaid, Letitia E. Midgett, aged 28 yrs., who being duly sworn according to law make the following declaration in order to obtain the pension provided by Act of Congress approved June 27, 1890. That she is the legitimate child of Jos. Wilson who enlisted under the name of Jos. Wilson at Hatteras, NC on the 16th of June 1865 in Co. "I", 1st Regt.; N.C. Vols., and served at least ninety days in the war of the rebellion in the service of the U.S.; who was honorably discharged June 27, 1865 and died Apr. 10, 1881 [1880 Mortality Census states he died in April 1880 of congestive chill]; that he left no widow surviving him; that the names and dates of birth of all the surviving children of the soldier under 16 years of age are as follows:
John F. Born Oct. 3, 1867 [according to other records, this should be 1862 or 1863]
Letitia E. Born Aug. 14, 1868
Armecia J. Born Sept. 15, 1871

That the declarant hereby appoints A.W.J. [no last name given but is probably Asa Warren Jones, Sr.] of Manteo, N.C. the true and lawful attorney to prosecute this claim and receive a fee of $10.00. That his P.O. address is Rodantha, N.C.
