Albert Hayes Daniels

Albert Hayes Daniels was born in Wanchese, NC on Mar. 8, 1877 to Charles Bailey Daniels, Sr. & William Eliza Lane.  He was first married to Anna Laurie "Annie" Cudworth in Manteo, NC on Oct. 20, 1909.  Annie (1890-1921) was the daughter of Llwellyn Cudworth & Rebecca G. Creef.  Albert & Annie are buried in Cudworth Cemetery in Wanchese. Albert & Annie had 7 children:

   1. Elliott Curtis Daniels - b. Nov. 26, 1910  d. Feb. 1, 1978 [see obituary].  Married 1^st: Jeanette Minnie Pitts in Norfolk on Nov. 7, 1932 (divorced, no children); Married 2^nd: Frances Mae (Dough) Headley in Norfolk on Aug. 28, 1948.  Elliott & Frances are buried in Cudworth Cemetery, Wanchese.
   2. Elton Murray Daniels - b. Aug. 14, 1912  d. at sea on July 13, 1942.  Married: Bernice Crisp at South Mills, Camden Co., NC on Feb. 5, 1939. Buried: Cudworth Cemetery.  A snippet from the May 23, 1996 Coastland Times newspaper had the following:
"...of the many Dare County natives who served in the Merchant Marine during World War II, and survived air raids and submarine attacks, at least one lost his life. Murray Daniels, brother of Luther and Jerry Daniels of Manteo, both Merchant Marine veterans, was an engineer officer on the "SS Oneida" when she was sunk by a torpedo from the German submarine U-166 on July 13, 1942, only a few miles off the coast of Cuba..."
   3. Cloyce Remington Daniels - b. Aug. 16, 1913  d. Feb. 5, 2000 [see obituary].  Married: Theresa Wescott (Gallop) Forbes (1911-2003) in Manteo on Nov. 27, 1941. Cloyce & Theresa are buried in Cudworth Cemetery.
   4. William Elwood Daniels - b. Dec. 27, 1914  d. May 23, 1937.  Buried: Cudworth Cemetery
   5. Hilda Daniels - b. Oct. 26, 1917  d. before 1920?
   6. Annie Laurie Daniels - b. Oct. 26, 1917  d. Dec. 1, 1952 [see obituary for Esau Edison Gallop].  Married: Esau Edison Gallop in Wanchese on Jan. 17, 1935.  Annie & Esau are buried in Cudworth Cemetery.
   7. Luther Hamilton Daniels - b. Jan. 23, 1921  d. Apr. 30, 2012 [see obituary].  Married: Helen Chappell Etheridge (1923-2011) in Manteo on Oct. 3, 1942.

After Albert's first wife passed away in 1921 he married Florence Virginia "Flonie" Midgett (1907-1984) in Manteo on July 20, 1929.  Florence was the daughter of Jeremiah H. "Jerry" Midgett & Mary Spence Gray/Midgett.  Albert & Flonie had 2 children:

   1. Flora Jeanine Daniels - b. Sept. 30, 1930  d. _______.  Married: Willett Reginald Tillett (1929-1990) in Hertford, Perquimans Co., NC on Mar. 11, 1949.  Willett is buried in Cudworth Cemetery.
   2. Albert Jerry Daniels - b. Aug. 13, 1936  d. Nov. 19, 2003.  Married 1^st: Hazel Faye (Lewark) Marshall Bailiff in Elizabeth in 1967.  Married 2^nd: Marion Joyce (Gamiel) Hayes in Manteo on Apr. 22, 1986.

Albert Hayes Daniels died Jan. 16, 1941 and is buried in Cudworth Cemetery.  After Albert's death Florence married Frank C. Sikora (1914-1982) in South Mills, Camden Co., NC on Aug. 19, 1943.  Frank & Florence are buried in Manteo Cemetery.
