Lorenzo Dowe Hooper was born in Stumpy Point, NC on April 7, 1894 to Christopher Irving Hooper & Frances Levetta (Mason) Hooper.  He married Olive Florine Pugh in Buxton, NC on April 25, 1914.  Florine, born August 27, 1894, was the daughter of Major Cornelius Pugh & Margaret Elizabeth Hayes.  Lorenzo D. Hooper died Aug. 4, 1947 and Florine died Oct. 5, 1966.  Both are buried in the Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery in Stumpy Point. Their marriage produced 5 children:
  1) Horace Brantley Hooper (1914-1983) - married Melba Teresa Wise
  2) Hazel Ernestine Hooper (1916-1988) - married 1^st Jesse Robert Bell, Sr. and 2^nd Graydon A. Sterling
  3) Doris Earle Hooper (1920-1973) - married William Glenn Twiford
  4) Loza Catherine Hooper (1926-1981) - married 1^st John Patrick "Jack" O'Keefe and 2^nd John Eldon Zachary
  5) Major Irving Hooper (1932-1974) - married Marietta Hooper
