John Wesley Woodley, Jr.

According to a death certificate, John Wesley Woodley, Jr. was born to John Wesley & Mary Woodley, Sr. on March 18, 1870 and died on Sept. 30, 1964.  He married Amelia A. Toler (1880-1949) in Manteo on Sept. 23, 1900.  This picture is believed to have been taken between 1948-1951 in front of Hotel Fort Raleigh in Manteo.  John had hogs to feed and he went around with his cart and collected table scraps that people had saved for him.  Sometimes he would let the children ride with him and they loved it.
