FRANKLIN COUNTY, NC - LAND, Freeman to Hartsfield Deed, 1785
This
Indenture made this ninth day of August in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five between
Howell Freeman of the County of Franklin and State of North
Carolina of the one part and Jacob Hartsfield of the same
county and state of the other part witnesseth that the said
Howell Freeman for and in consideration of the sum of three
pounds specie money to hiim in hand paid at or before the
ensealing and delivery hereof the receipt hereof is hereby
acknowleged and the said Howell Freeman to he the said Jacob
Hartsfield doth hereby acquit & discharge hath granted
bargained sold and delivered and firmly by these presents
doth fully absolutely grant bargain sell release and confirm
unto the said Jacob Hartsfield his heirs and assigns for
ever a certain tract or parcell of land in Franklin County
containing twenty five acres it lying and being on the north
line of Jacob Hartsfield Mill Creek Begining at a red oak
Hartsfield's corner runing north along his line to a corner
pine 33 poles then west 121 poles to a post oak and two red
oaks then south 33 poles to Jacob Hartsfield's line near
Panes Branch to a corner White Oak and pine then East along
the said line to the first station to donclude twenty five
acres of land it being part of a tract of land granted from
the State of North Carolina to Bridges Freeman and from
Bridges Freeman to Howell Freeman together with all houses
out houses & buildings theron woods & under woods waters
mines and minerals and appertenances to the said land
belinging & appertaining and all his right title and
interest in and to the sad premises & all profits thereof
and every part and parcell thereof with the appertenances
there unto belonging to have and to hold the said tract or
parcell of land with all edifices priveledges & appertances
to the same belonging to the said Jacob Hartsfield his heirs
& assigns for ever he or they paying tax for the land after
the day and date hereof and the said Howell Freeman for
himself his heirs executors and adminsitrators doth
covenant promise and agree to and with the said Jacob
Hartsfield his heirs, exrs. & admrs. & assigns that the
above granted premises are free and clear of all charges and
encumbrances whatsoever and he the said Howell Freeman for
himself his heirs executors & admrs. shall and will warrant
secure and defend the property and sale of the said land and
premises to the said Jacob Hartsfield his heirs execrs.
admrs. and assigns forever against the lawfull claim or
demand of any person or persons whatsoever In witness
whereof the sd. Howell Freeman hat hereunto set and put his
