This Indenture made the sixteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety between Thomas Hunter of Gates County State of North Carolina of the one part and John Hoffler of the said County and State aforesaid of the Other part Witnesseth the said Thomas Hunter for and in Consideration of the sum of Twelve Pounds to him in hand paid The receipt whereof the said Thomas Hunter do hereby Acknowledge have Given, Granted, Bargained, and sold by these presents do fully Clearly and Absolutely Give, Grant, bargain, and Sell and for Ever make over unto John Hoffler his heirs and assigns a certain parcel of Land situate Lying and in Gates County and State aforesaid and Lying on the South side of the water Swamp and beginning at oak Kedar Hills Corner and John Hoffler’s side On ? the nee north seventy west twenty six poles to a pine thence north sixty poles West Sixty four poles to a pine John B. Walton Corner Tree and John Hofler’s Corner tree thence with Walton’s line North Twenty five poles East Hundred holes poles to a Persemon tree there along the said Waltons Sine south forty five East Joining Kedar Hills Land Eighty seven Poles to a pine and from thence to the first Station Containing fifty acres with all the appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the said land and Premises unto the said John Hoffler his heirs and assigns for Ever to the only proper use Benefit and Behoof of him the said John Hoffler his Heirs and assigns for ever and the said said Thomas Hunter do hereby warrant and for Ever defend the aforesaid Land and premise with the appurtenances there unto belonging against the Lawfull claim or demand of any person or persons claiming for by or under me the said Thomas Hunter unto the said John Hoffler his Heirs or assigns for ever In Witness whereof this said Thomas Hunter have here unto set my hand and fixed my seal the day above written.
