STEDMAN, James Cooper – (d. 1910)
Fayetteville, NC., November 23 – James Cooper STEDMAN, of this city, passed away at Luke’s Hospital this morning, in the eighty-seventh year of his age, his death coming unexpectedly, though he had for a number of years been an invalid. Mr. STEDMAN was born in Gates county, and lived in Pittsboro until 1853, when he removed to Fayetteville. He was long a prominent merchant and bank officer of this city, though his last years were spent in retirement. He leaves no immediate family, but a number of relatives, among whom are Frank H. STEDMAN, of this city; Major Charles M. STEDMAN, of Greensboro, and Miss Fannie STEDMAN, of Wilmington.
