William Richardson was listed in the 1790 Halifax Co. Census as Head of Household with 7 Other Free; He was probably the same William Richardson in the 1786 State Census where  his name was written with "No Return" beside it, in the same district where Benjamin Richardson was listed next to William Wood, who was a witness to this will.

 

North Carolina, Halifax County

In the name of God, Amen, I WM. RICHARDSON, of the County and State aforesaid being weak in body but in perfect mind & memory thanks be to God for the same do ordain this to be my last will & testament in manner & form following to wit: First of all I commend my soul in the hand of God & as for my body I desire for it to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors whom I shall appoint & as for my worldly Estate I dispose of it in the following manner First I desire that my son ELIJAH RICHARDSON shall have my house & plantation six years and after six years I desire that my son MATHEW RICHARDSON shall have the house & plantation. Item I give to my son HENRY RICHARDSON one Bay horse one hundred acres of Land house & plantation situated[?] with a mill. Item I give to daughter MOURNING BASS ten acres of land being on the North side of the Spring in fork of the Branche, & one hundred & ninety acres of land I desire should be equally divided between my three sons WM, ELIJAH & MATHEW.

I desire that my son WILLIAM should have his share of land on the Mill Swamp & ELIJAH his part on the Swamp called <illegible> & I desire that balance of my Estate be equally divided between my children HENRY, WILLIAM, ELIJAH & MATHEW & my daughters MOURNING, HARTY, OLIVE, WINNIE & CHRISTIAN; I do ordain, constitute & appoint my son HENRY RICHARDSON for my Executor & my son WILLIAM RICHARDSON for my Executor for this my last will & testament.

August Session 1798 that this will was exhibited in open court & duly proved by the oaths of WM. WOOD & DAVID MARSHALL two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and on motion[?] ordered to be recorded and thereupon HENRY RICHARDSON & WM RICHARDSON the Executors therein named came in & were duly qualified thereto.
