MRS. CORNELIA CAMPBELL, 97, of BUIES CREEK DIES

BUIES CREEK - Mrs. Cornelia Campbell, 97, of Buies Creek, widow of the founder of Campbell College and mother of two
college presidents, died lat Tuesday afternoon at a Raleigh hospital.
Her husband, the late Dr. James A. Campbell, founded Campbell College here in 1887. She taught at Buies Creek Academy for
several years and also assisted President Campbell in his office. She was a native of Harnett county.
One of her sons, Dr. Leslie H. Campbell, is now president of Campbell College. The other, Dr. Carlyle Campbell, is president
of Meredith College at Raleigh. Her daughter Mrs. A. Edgar Lynch is a member of the music department faculty at Campbell College.
Funeral services are being held today a 3 p.m. at Buies Creek Baptist church, of which she was a charter member. Officiating
will be the Rev. E. Norfleet Gardner of Henderson, The Rev. W.W. Finlator, pastor of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church, Raleigh,
and the Rev. E. Weldon Johnson, pastor of Buies Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in Buies Creek cemetery.
Other survivors include 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

HE SHOULD BE HELPED
Rev. J. A. Campbell, of Buie's Creek was in town Saturday and showed us a plan of the brick structure he hopes to erect
there during the summer. The two story part is 70X90 feet and the single story is 35X50 feet. If he succeeds in raising enough
of the amount to justify the erection of the building it will be erected. It will cost at least $10,000.--Dunn Banner
