and RACHEL MURCHISON.  She was born April 30, 1828 in Cumberland County, NC, and d. May 16, 1854 
in Harnett County, NC.  He married (2) MARY ELIZABETH MCKAY MCLEOD Aft. 1854, daughter of 
NEILL MCKAY and FLORA MCNEILL.  She died Aft. 1880.

Notes for KENNETH MURCHISON:
Kenneth Murchison served as a Captain in the Confederate Army, was wounded and returned home 
as an invalid where he took on the responsibilities of a Colonel in the Home Guard of Harnett 
County NC. After the war ended, Kenneth returned to farming in Harnett County NC.  

William Murchison and Mary Elizabeth's children moved back in with Capt. Kenneth and were 
raised by him and Mary Elizabeth's mother.
