Will Archibald Shaw 20 (no month) 1799/No Probate date Bladen County Book 1 Pages 387 - 388

In the name of God "Amen"
	I Archibald Shaw of the state of North Carolina and County of Bladen seriously considering the 
	uncertainty of human life at the best and most particularly my own in my declining State do will 
	in a sound State of mind and memory make and ordain this my last will and Testament intending to 
	dispose of my few worldly affairs as justice seemed to direct humbly recommending my soul to the 
	extensive mercy of that Eternal Supreme intelligent Being who gave me desiring to be buried in a 
	Christian like manner at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named.
	I give and bequeath unto my wife Catherine all my property whatever I may die possessed both Real 
	and Personal the following legacies hereafter mentioned only excepted
Item		I give and bequeath unto John Shaw son of my Brother Daniel Shaw one shilling to him and 
his heirs forever 
Item		I give and unto my nephew Malcom and Daniel Shaw Sons of Daniel Shaw one shilling each.
Item	I give unto John McKay husband of Ann McKay the daughter of my brother Daniel Shaw one shilling.
		I do give unto Martha McEwen husband of Jean McEwen the daughter of said brother Daniel Shaw 
		one shilling.  I give unto my nephew Angus and John sons of my brother John Shaw one shilling each.
		I give and bequeath unto Charles McNorton husband of the late Mary McNorten daughter of my brother 
		John Shaw one shilling.
		I give unto William McEwen husband of Catherine McEwen daughter of John Shaw on e shilling.   
		I give unto John McMIllan husband of Marion McMillan daughter of John Shaw one shilling.  
		I give unto my brother in law Archibald Buie and Catherine his wife one shilling.  
		I give unto my nephew Daniel Shaw son of Neill Shaw one shilling.
		I give unto my sister in law Marion Shaw relic of my brother Colin Shaw one shilling.
Item		I give unto James McConeskey husband of Margaret McConeskey deceased daughter of Neill Shaw 
one shilling.  I give unto Christopher and Daniel Gooden grandson of my brother Neill Shaw one shilling each.
		I do hereby nominate and appoint my wife Catherine Shaw sole Executrix of this m last will and Testament 
		with direction to my said Executrix to defray my funeral charges and discharge all my just debt after 
		which devise that all the rest of my property be at the entire disposal of my said executrix 
		disannulling all other wills heretofore made.

	In the name of God "Amen"
		I Daniel Shaw Senr of the County of Bladen and State of North Carolina being of sound disposing 
		mind and memory Blessed be god do this the Sixth day of November in the Year of Our Lord one 
		thousand Eight hundred and forty six make and publish this my last Will and testament in manner 
		and form following
1st		it is my wish and desire that ll my Just debts and funeral expenses be paid
2nd		I give and bequeath all of my Estate that have not been previously given away by deeds of gift 
both Real and Personal and also all property and things that may in law or Equity belong to me to be 
equally divided in five equal shares and my son William Shaw to have one share my son Randall Shaw to 
have one share my son Daniel Shaw to have one share and the children of my son Duncan Shaw to have one 
share and my son Archibald to have the other share all to share and share alike.
		And I do hereby nominate and appoint my sons Daniel Shaw and Archibald Shaw Executors to this 
		my last Will and Testament.

Then in open Court was the within above will duly proved by the oaths of Durriun[?] Lorris and 
Chalres H Barney/Burney and ordered to be registered and then and there came Archibald Shaw and 
Daniel Shaw Executors nominated in said Will and were duly sworn as Executors to the same

	In the Name of God "Amen"
	I Penelope Shaw wife of Daniel Shaw Senr of the County of Bladen and state of North Carolina 
	being of sound and disposing mind and memory and better to secure to my children after my death 
	do make this my last Will and testament in manner and form following to wit,
	I do give will and bequeath unto my children namely Charles Formyduval, Deniaschain[?], Formyduval, 
	Sarah Ann Pierce wife of James O. Pierce, John Paul Formyduval, Jane Roseline Lucien wife of 
	William Lucien, Mary Jane Caroline Shaw wife of Duncan Shaw, the following negroes to wit - 
	Elsey, Rachel, Simon, Luia, Emily, Times, Merilda, to then and their heirs Executors and administrators 
	with all the increase arising from said negroes.  My object is to secure to my children the said property; 
	I have "before"this given them a deed of gift to said negroes but believing that it might not answer the 
	purpose intended I have therefore made this my last will and testament.
	And I do hereby nominate Constitute and appoint James O. Pierce Executor to this my last will and testament.
	In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
