At a meeting of the Board of Wardens of the poor of St. George Parish began & held the Court house in Swan Quarter on the 13th day of May A.D. 1867
Were present: Jones Spencer, Henry S. Gibbs (declined serving), Benjamin T. Fulcher, Tilman F. Credle, Henry Jones, William M. Credle, Albert Cartwright.And we, the said Jones Spencer,
Henry Gibbs, Albert Cartwright, Benjamin T. Fulcher, Tilman F. Credle, Henry Jones, William M. Credle do solemnly swear that we will faithfully and honestly discharge our duties as wardens of the poor of St. George Parish of Hyde County to the best of our skill and ability and according to law. /no signatures/Sworn to before me

Henry S. Gibbs, one of the board of Wardens of the poor of St. George Parish as appointed by the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Hyde County, declined serving and is discharged upon payment of the fine as directed by law. ($20.00)

April 13, 1868
At a meeting of the Board of Wardens of St. George Parish on April 13th 1868 at the Court House in Swan Quarter.
Were present: Jones Spencer, Henry Jones, Tilman F. Credle and upon motion of majority not being present and not a sufficient number being appointed by the Court it is ordered that they adjourn and meet again on the 3rd Monday in May next AD 1868.[pg. 235]

At a meeting of the Board of Wardens of the poor of St. George Parish on 18th day of May AD 1868 at the Court House in Swan Quarter.
Were present the following named wardens: Jones Spencer, Henry Jones, Tilman F. Credle, Wm. M. Credle, Albert Cartwright
Paid: Ordered by the Board of Wardens that Henry Jones be allowed and paid $14.40 for corn furnished Isabella & Matilda 2 old blind negroes.
Paid: Ordered by the Board of Wardens that Tilman F. Credle be allowed & paid $30.00 for 3 months board of Eli colored & for one barrel corn furnished Nicholas & Nelly Brinn.
Paid: Ordered by the Board of Wardens that Wm. M. Credle be allowed & paid $191.75 for furnishing the poor of Hyde County from 1861 to 1865. [NOTE: Even though the records for this time period are missing it seems that the Poorhouse was still in existence.]
Paid: Ordered by the Board of Wardens that H.D. Cason be allowed and paid $10.00 for burial expenses of Perian Cox.
Paid: Ordered by the Board of Wardens that Geo. Credle be allowed and paid $10.50 for furnishing Lytha Newton.
