Hattie Mae Noble, daughter of John Edward Noble and Mary Ann Flowers, was born in Hyde County on August 24, 1916 and died in Erwin, Harnett Co., NC on Sept. 9, 2001.  She was educated in Hyde County, having graduated from Sladesville High School on May 10, 1933.  This was an English paper that she submitted for her Senior English class in 1933.  Hattie married Charles Eli Mizell, Jr. on Nov. 13, 1945.  This essay was contributed by Ken Mason.

NOTE: In Hattie's essay she states that Joseph Peele Flowers was born in 1855, however, his death certificate states he was born in 1857 and died on Feb. 7, 1921.
