November Term - 1788 - Mary Barrow, widow and late the wife of George Barrow, dec'd., petitions the Court for her dower. She states that George Barrow died August 27 and that at the time of his death he was possessed of 550 acres in Hyde County of which she is entitled to one-third. She asks that commissioners be appointed to lay off her dower. /s/ J. Roulhac, for the pet'r.
Feb. 13, 1789 - Commissioners were summoned to lay off to Mary Barrow, widow of George Barrow, dec'd., her right of dower in the deceased land, viz: 183 1/3 acres near Pungo Creek. Personal property consisted of (among other things) 1 bed, 1 woolen wheel, 1 chest, 1 pott, 1 negro wench Sarah, and her child Reade....(the rest of the listed is too dim to read) /s/ Stephen Gaylard, Thos. Gaylard, James Gaylard, John _____?, Edward Moring?, John Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, John Gaylard, John Egleton, James Eborn, Noah Egleton, Jeremiah Gaylard (Commissioners)
Aug. 15, 1789 - Further account of Sales of the estate of Geo. Barrow, dec'd., being that part of the personal estate set by a jury of 12 men to Thomas Barrow, minor of sd. deceased. Various buyers were Zenous Eborn, William Smaw, & Littleton Eborn. The total personal estate amounted to £22, 11 shillings & 2 pence. Paid to William Barrow, guardian to Thomas Barrow, minor of George Barrow, dec'd., £22, 11 shillings & 2 pence. Receipt from guardian to John Satchwell, Ex'tr.
Feb. 7, 1790 - An account of the adm'r. of John Satchwell on the estate of George Barrow, dec'd., 1788. Total was £215, 12 shillings & 3 pence. /s/ John Satchwell, Ex'tr.
Feb. Term 1790 - Adm'r. account was exhibited into Court by John Satchwell, adm'r., and ordered to be recorded. Account of Sales was returned by John Satchwell. Ex'tr. & ordered to be recorded. Test: Benj. Foreman, Clk.
