Below are some of the comments relating the history of a few of the above churches and cemeteries sent in by researchers.
*Bess Chapel Cemetery is located about 2 miles east of Flay (274) at the intersection of Flay Road and Bess Chapel Road. the land was donated by Peter Bess,IV (1820- 1899) and his wife Sarah H. (Sallie) Beam (1823-1916) Both are buried there. There are suppose to be slaves buried in the stand of trees located at the bck of the cemetery. This area is not cleaned off and I have never look in the over growth for the graves. Peter and Sallie are my GreatGreat Grandparents. The Cemetery is well maintaind. The Davis Reunion is held at Bess Chapel the first Sunday of August for the past 40 years.
Don Davis, Shreveport, LA.**Reeps Grove Cemetery is located at the intersection of Reeps Grove Church Road and Hulls Grove Church road. The land was donated by Jessie Reep (1842-1919) & his wife Mary Polly Shitle (1841 & 1921). He is buried across the road in a stand of trees with many of the slaves. The graves have been trampled down by cattle so we have been unable to find his exact grave. She is buried directly behind the Church in the cemetery. They were my Great Grand Parents.
Don Davis, Shreveport, LA.
There may duplication betewen the online and offline cemeteries. If you would like to transcribe some of the cemetery sites that have not yet been surveyed, I will be happy to add them to the list and give credit where due.
Please email any names and locations that you are aware of that are not already listed here to ME. I would like to have all Lincoln County cemeteries listed even if all the transcriptions are not available to post online.
