Smith-Campbell Building
Built in 1927
Located on East Main Street in downtown Maiden, this two-story commercial
structure is built in a Neoclassical design of common bond brick with a limestone veneer.
The building's name and 1927 date are engraved in the veneer near the crown of the flat-topped building.
A band of floret medillions also decorate this level.
Mr. Smith owned interest in Carolina Mills and ran Superior Chair Company in Maiden.
He built the Smith-Campbell as a hotel with three retail stores on the street level.
