{"id":574,"date":"2011-03-12T19:03:02","date_gmt":"2011-03-13T02:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ncgenweb.us\/martin\/?p=574"},"modified":"2011-03-12T19:03:02","modified_gmt":"2011-03-13T02:03:02","slug":"searching-land-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncgenweb.us\/martin\/searching-land-records\/","title":{"rendered":"1866-Present: Martin County Land Records Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While fixing up some things here on the site, I recently learned that the Martin County Regsistrar of Deeds has a new online system for locating old records. \u00a0You can now access county land records back to 1866 on their website!\u00a0Records available include: deeds,\u00a0easements, agreements,\u00a0deeds of trust, assignments, releases, plats and more. \u00a0This <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.familysearch.org\/en\/United_States._United-States_-_Land_and_Property-_Land_Terms_%26_Definitions\" target=\"_blank\">list of land record terminology<\/a> may be helpful as you navigate around.<\/p>\n<p>The site has three methods for accessing the records<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Option 1: Full System<\/strong> &#8211; these files include both images and indexes. \u00a0This combined retrieval covers January 1, 1985 to present.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Option 2: Imaging System Only<\/strong> &#8211; these files include the images from\n<ul>\n<li>Deed Books A-01 thru B-24 p. 714 (March 10, 2011)<\/li>\n<li>Old Deed Books U (08\/26\/1866) thru December 2, 1010<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Option 3: \u00a0Scanned Index Images<\/strong> &#8212; these files are the scanned copies of their index. \u00a0The records here cover\u00a0<strong>Jan 1, 1925 through Dec 31, 1984.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here is an example of the search interface for the Full System where you can enter various search criteria.\u00a0&#8216;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_575\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-575\" style=\"width: 459px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ncgenweb.us\/martin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Martin_rod_samplesearch1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-575   \" title=\"Martin_rod_samplesearch1\" src=\"https:\/\/ncgenweb.us\/martin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Martin_rod_samplesearch1-1024x487.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"459\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ncgenweb.us\/martin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Martin_rod_samplesearch1-1024x487.png 1024w, https:\/\/ncgenweb.us\/martin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Martin_rod_samplesearch1-300x142.png 300w, https:\/\/ncgenweb.us\/martin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Martin_rod_samplesearch1-624x297.png 624w, https:\/\/ncgenweb.us\/martin\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Martin_rod_samplesearch1.png 1337w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 459px) 85vw, 459px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-575\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sample search interface<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Looking at the old deed books are fun too! Here is a screen shot of Old Deed Book U &#8212; notice that by using the sidebar buttons you can go page by page. \u00a0This looks to be a deed from Emily &amp; William B.
