1st Sergeant Timothy James Strickland b:1-20-1843 & D:6-23-1931. He served the Confederacy from 1861-1865. 2nd Co A 36th Reg, NC. He was in charge of the Artillary at Fort Fisher, Wilmington, New Hanover Co, NC when it fell to the Union on January 15, 1865. Taken POW to Ft. Delaware, Delaware until released (officer exchange) June 19, 1865. Returned to his home in Duplin Co, NC and died a widower at 88 years old.
