1756 page 187
In the name of God Amen. The 29th day of January Anno Domini 1756, I,
Evan Jones, being aged, but of perfect mind and memory, calling to mind
the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men
once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament,
absolutely disannulling all and every other Will and Testament by me
heretofore made either by word or writing and declaring and cooberating
this to be my only Will and Testament, that is to say, principally and
first of all I give and bequeath my Soul into the hand of God who gave
it, trusting alone in the merits of Jesus Christ for the pardon of my
sins and salvation and my Body I commit to the earth to be buried in a
Christian like manner at the descretion of my executor and executrix
hereafter named, not doubting but I shall receive the same at the
resurrection by the might power of God and as for the Temporal estate
as it hath pleased Almightly God to bestow on me in this life, I give
and bequeath and dispose of the same in the following manner and form—
Impremis - I will that all my just debts and my funeral charges
defrayed out of my movable estate by my executor and executrix.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife one third of all my
moveable estate and her living on my Home place with all the forfeits,
previledges and advantages of it during her natural life.
Item, I give unto my son, William Jones 500 acres of land being the
upper one half of a Tract of 1,000 acres opposite to my home tract on
the East side of the NE River, to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebecca James, 500 acres of
land called Water Mellon Run below my home tract, to her, her heirs and
assigns forever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Jones (after her
mother's decease) my home place with all the improvements thereon, to
her, her heirs and assigns forever.
Item, I give all my movable estate, goods, chattles, negroes, after my
wife's decease what should be left of them to all my children to be
equally divided.
Item, I give unto my son, William Jones my negro boy Prince and unto my
daughter Margaret my negro girl Bella, to them and their assigns
forever.
Anything herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding and I do
constitute, ordain and appoint my son-in-law, Patrick Boylin and my
well beloved wife, executor and executrix of my last Will and
Testament.
