B, p. 327, New Hanover Co. Wills
I, Pricilla Bourdeaux, of the County of New Hanover, and State of North
Carolina, being of sound mind and memory do make and declare this my
Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say,
Firth, that my executors hereinafter named shall provide for my body a
decent burial, and suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends,
and payable funeral expenses together with my just debts, howsoever or
to whomsoever, owing out of the monies that may first come unto their
hands, as a part or parcel of my estate.
ITEM 1 - I give and devise to my affectionate brother William J. Hand,
my negro man Jeff, provided he will pay unto my executor $200 to be his
and at his disposal absolutely forever.
ITEM 2 - I give and devise to my affectionate sister, Julia E.
Armstrong, $300 to be paid within two years after my death by my
executors to be hers and at her disposal absolutely forever.
ITEM 3 - I give and devise to Mr. Hinton James and my affectionate
sister, Ann M. James, my negro man Romulus to be theirs and at their
disposal absolutely forever.
ITEM 4 - I give and devise to my affectionate sister Patsey Brown my
negro woman Mary during her lifetime and after her death to Hand James
to be his and at his disposal absolutely forever.
ITEM 5 - I give and devise to my affectionate brother, Jeremiah Hand my
negro man Neptune and my girl Zilphy, house, horse, buggy and $200 to
be his and at his disposal absolutely forever. I also desire that my
said brother, Jeremiah Hand, will pay $150 and keep my negro girl Amy
to have and be at his disposal absolutely forever.
ITEM 6 - I give and devise to my affectionate niece, Mary Ann Brothers,
$150 to be hers and at her disposal absolutely forever.
ITEM 7 - I give and devise to my affectionate nephew, Hand James, $100
to be his and at his disposal absolutely forever. As my affectionate
sister Martha Brown declines accepting my girl Mary, I give and devise
her (Mary) to my affectionate nephew Hand James, to be his absolutely
forever.
ITEM 8 - I give and devise to my affectionate cousin David Bordeaus,
son of Mr. Moses Bordeaux, my negro man Sip, to be his and at his
disposal absolutely forever.
ITEM 9 - I give and devise to Mary J. Sauls $50 to be appropriated to
her tuition by my executors.
ITEM 10 - I give and devise one fifth of the expense of erecting
tombstones over the remains of Colonel Bordeaux and his former wife, to
be paid by my executors.
ITEM 11 - I give and devise to my affectionate sisters Ann M. James and
Margaret I. Hand $100 to be appropriated to repair a house on my
mother's lot for their dwelling.
And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friends Hinton
James and Jeremiah Hand, my lawful executors to all intents and
purposes hereinwith this my Last Will and Testament according to the
true intent and meaning of the same, in every part and clause thereof,
hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other Wills and
Testaments by me heretofore made.
In witness thereof, I, the said Pricilla Bordeaux, do hereunto set my
hand and seal this 24th day of April 1847.
Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Pricilla Bordeaux to
be her Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who do subscribe
as witnesses thereto:
