I, Sarah Jones, of the County of New Hanover and State of North
Carolina, being sick and weak in body, but in my proper senses and
enjoying the exercises of my reason and mindful of the mortality of the
body, have thought proper to make this my Last Will and Testament,
hereby revoking all former Wills by me executed—
ITEM 1 - I give and bequeath to my beloved sister, Elizabeth Watts
during her natural life for her support to be under the care of my son
James Price who is hereby requested to maintain her for the labor of
the three following negroes, viz., Old Vinney, Eve and Peg.
ITEM 2 - I give and bequeath to my beloved niece, Mary Hand, the negro
girl named Muriah to her and her heirs and assigns.
ITEM 3 - I give and bequeath to my beloved nephew Jeremiah Hand the
negro boy named Demoss, to him and his heirs and assigns.
ITEM 4 - I give and bequeath to my beloved grand-nephew William Jones
Hand, the negro girl named Amy to him and his heirs and assigns.
ITEM 5 - I give and bequeath all the remaining part of my estate after
my lawful debts is paid unto my three sons, and two daughters, viz.,
James Price, Ann Jones, William Watts Jones, Sarah Jones and Evan
Jones, to be equally divided between them, share and share alike,
including the three negores assigned for the maintenance of Elizabeth
Watts, after her natural life.
ITEM 6 - I do hereby constitute and appoint my two sons James Price and
William Watts Jones and my nephew Jeremiah Hand, the executors of this
my Last Will and testament, 18 October 1796.
