AB, page 65, New Hanover County, NC Wills; proved December Term 1802
Whereas I, William Jones, of the State of North Carolina and County of
New Hanover, being of sound and perfect memory do this 20th day of July
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and two make and
publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following, that is to
say,
I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth the land and plantation in
Duplin Co. whereon Leonard Mills now lives and also the upper half of
the two surveys in New Hanover Co. lying in the fork of Rockfish and
Mills Creek, the dividing line to be on Rockfish and run from thence
out to the head line, the said lands and all and singular improvements,
appertenances, etc, thereunto belonging, and
To my daughter, Ann, I give and bequeath 300 acres or all my land being
on Doctor's Creek which fell to my part in the division of the estate
of James Bloodworth, deceased, with also the improvements,
appertenances, thereunto belonging, and
To my two sons, David and William Rufus, I give and bequeath the
plantation whereon I now live with also each and every part and parcel
or tract of my land thereunto adjoining with also all the improvements,
appertenances, thereunto belonging, which said several parcels of land
are to be equally divided between my said two sons.
All the residue of my lands which are not herein before printed with
all my personal property, negroes, etc., I leave to be divided for each
of my four children and the money from the sale of the property, after
paying all my just debts, I leave to be apportioned for all my children
with each an equal share and the same to all my negroes, I leave to be
equally divided among my four children, but no division to be of the
same unto each of my children as they become of age. The legacies
herein left to my children and lands, I desire should be rented out and
the negroes hired annually.
And, now for the purpose of carrying unto affect this my last Will and
Testament, I do hereby make and ordain my brother, David Jones, my
brother-in-law Timothy Bloodworth, and my brother-in-law James
Bloodworth my executors to this my Last Will and Testament. In witness
thereof, the said William Jones have to this my last Will and Testament
set my hand and seal the day and year above witnessed.
Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said William Jones, the
testator, as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us which
were present at the time of the signing and sealing thereof.
