Marker of Isaac Sanders: This marker is an obelisk about 6 feet tall, inscribed on one side. It says: In Memory of ISSAC SANDERS who was born the 19th day of May 1777, and died the 8th day of Sep. 1821, & was the Father of 11 Children.

This marker was moved from a cemetery near the intersection of Main St. Extension and Hwy. 24 in Swansboro. When the bridge and road were built they were routed through a small cemetery. On the top of the ornately shaped stone is an anchor with HOPE (2 letters on each side of the anchor) Then it says:
