This is the Piper Cox House located on the Eno River in Orange County. Bebe Fox and her first cousin, Bob Newsome of Durham, both descend from the Cox and Piper families.
The color picture of the house was a pen and ink drawn by Bebe’s husband John Fox and she added the watercolor wash.
Bebe and Bob convinced the State of North Carolina that their ancestors built this house. The State then changed the name of the property. Dr. McKnelly, former head of the State Parks and recreation Department in Raleigh, told Bebe that this was the first time this has ever happened to state-owned property. Bebe and Bob had to do a great amount of research and documentation to bring about this change.
