Located on
the south side (right) of Middle Bay Road (Hwy 304) about a quarter mile
from the intersection of Lover’s Lane and Hwy 304 in Hobucken. This
one-story, frame store with gable front orientation has a hooded entrance
with large windows on each side. The store was built for John A.
Ireland (1895-1989), who operated a store here for many years. At the
rear of this store stood the residence of John’s parents, Washington
David Ireland (ca 1873-1943), and his wife, Etta Alcock Ireland
(1874-1952). This residence is no longer standing.
