THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

PHILLIP TORKSEY

February 25, 1755

North Carolina Pasquotank County

I PHILLIP TORKSEY being very sick and weak of body but of perfet sence and memory thanks be to God for it do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in maner form as followeth that is to say first I recominend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the earth to be buried at the descreution of my Exect. Hereafter mentioned.

Itom. I give and bequeth to my beloved Brother ——TORKSEY one two year old hefer.

Itom. I give and bequeth to my beloved Brother JOHN TORKSEY one two year old
heiffer.

Itom. I give and bequith to my beloved Cosen MAIGIL(?) REED(?) one negro boy Daniel at the decese of my Wife to her and her haire for ever.

Itom. I give and bequeth to my well beloved Wife (blacked out) of my estate both rail and pal???.

And I appint and ordain my beloved Wife ELIZEBETH to be my whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament and do utterly disannul all other Wills by me made and acknowledge this to be my Last Will and Testament as witness my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of Feb. 1755.
Elizbeth and ???? was underlined before sined.

Then appeared ELIZABETH TORKSEY Executrix and duly qualified as the said ???? that the Honorable Henry McCullock(?) Esq. Secretary Notary(?) that letters ????

GEORGE FLEMING (1694 Will)

THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

GEORGE FLEMING
May 27, 1694

Albermarl Co.
Pasquotank Precinct

In ye name of God amen. I GEORGE FLEMING being sick and weake of body but of sound and perfect memory praised be the Almighty God for it doe make this my Last Will and testament hereby revokeing all former wills that hath ???? by me made making them null and voyd.

Imprimis. I bequeath my soule to God that gave it trusting that in and through heinds(?) of my Blessed Saviour Jesus Christ to have compassion(?) and ??? pardon for all my sins that at the last day I may appear without spot or blemish.

2dly. I bequeath my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be desently buried ????? to the discrection of my Executor hereafter mentioned and as for my worldly estate I dispose of it as I have hearafter ????? after my just and lawfull debts are paid.

3dly. I give and bequeath unto THOMAS ELIOTT my long gun to him and his heirs for ever and furtner I give unto HENRY BRAY the Sonne of WILLIAM BRAY my ??? Coate briches skipp derpreese(?) and Hatt

4thly I give and bequeath unto JAMES ROBINSON one cow and calf one ??? increase male or female to him and his heirs for ever.

5thly I give and bequeath all the remaining part of my estate both reall & personally to my Daughter ELIZEBETH FLEMING to her her heirs & assigns for ever and she so be brought up at the discrection of my executor but if it shall please the Almighty God to taeke her out of this world before she comes of age or maryed then my will is that my Executor hereafter mentioned shall enjoy this estate he his heirs & assignes for ever.

I nominate and appoint SIMON RICE(?) my whole & sole executor to see this my Will & Testament and formed In witness hearin I have heare unto affixed my hand and seale this twenty seventh day of May 1694

RICHARD FERIEL (1740 Will)

THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

OF

RICHARD FERIEL

In the Name of God Amen. 

I RICHARD FERIEL of Pascotank precinct in the County of Albermarle and Province of North Carolina being at this time in health of body and of perfect sence and memory praise be therefore given unto almighty God for the same calling to mind the mortality of my body do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament.

   Imprimis I do give and bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it hoping through the meriteries death and passion of our blessed savious Jesus Christ to receive full pardon of all my sins and to obtain a joyful resurrection and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor here after named and as to what worldly estate the Lord is pleased to blessed upon me I do give in manned following.

   I will first that all my debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged.

   Item. I do give and bequeath unto my Son ERASMUS FERIEL fifty acres of land be ye land ???? or ????lying or being at ye roofs(?) end of my plantation beginning at a marked gum near my corn field by ye main swamp runing from thence about northeast course to a gum & from thence to ye farthest side of my land to him and his heirs forever.

   Item. I do give & bequeath unto my Son JOHN FEREL all the remainder of my land and plantation to him & his heirs forever.

   Item. And all my porsonal estat I do give to be equaly devided amongst all my children and my Son JOHN FEREL to have ye first choice therein, and I do make and ordain my sd. Son JOHN FERIEL whole and sole executor of this my Last Will & Testament in confirmation whereof I have hereunto set my hand & fixed my seal this One and Thirty Day of Janeuey Anno Dom 1738

THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

WILLIAM BARCOCK

March 5, 1730-1

In the name of God Amen the fifth day of March 1730/1. I WILLIAM BARCOCK of the precenct of Pasquotank in the province of North Carolina Planter, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. And as touching such worldly estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give & demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

Imprimis. I give and bequeath unto my Son THOMAS one hundred acres of land to be layed of at ye esterd end of my island to him and his heirs and assignes for ever.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son WILLIAM a two year old hefer is be delivered to him with in six months after my desese and ye first foll that the black mare hath or bringeth I like ways give unto my Son WILLIAM.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son DANIEL One Hundred acres of land laying and joyning on my Son THOMASES hundred before menchened and a three year old hefer to be delivered to him when at ye full age of twenty one years.

Item. I give unto my Son PETER One Hundred acres of land joyning on my Son DAN’L. hundred called Popler Pare of Palinstine millstones and a three year old hefer and a gun to be delivered when of full age of twenty one years.

Item. I give unto my Son JOHN One hundred acres of land called the Bectree Neck and a three year old hefer when at the full age of twenty one years.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son JOSEPH the plantation I now live on containing One hundred and fourty acres of land to him and his heirs and assignes for ever and a sorel mare and a two year old hefer and my hunting gun.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Son LUKE a two year old hefer.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter ANN a three year old hefer to be delivered unto hir when at the full age of sixteen years and my iron skilet

Imprimis. I give and bequeath to JANE my dearly beloved Wife all my houshold goods and stock debts and moveable effects together with hir lifetime on ye plantation whare on I now live (which I have bequeathed to my Son JOSEPH after the deces of my Wife) and I do like ways make and appoint my loveing Wife my Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament and I do here by utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills legacies and bequeths and Executors by me in any ways before made willed and bequeathed. Ratifing and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament. In witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year above writen.
