NORTH CAROLINA, the Fifteenth day of March, 1753.<\/span><\/p>\n

I, Edmund Chancey<\/strong>, of Pasquotank County, and province <\/span>aforsaid, being in perfect mind and memory, thanks be Given <\/span>to god, and Calling to mind the mortallity of my body and <\/span>knowing that it is appointed for man to die I do here make and <\/span>ordain this my Last will and Testament, that is first of all, I\u00a0<\/span><\/span>will that all my Just debts and funeral Expences be well and <\/span>Truly paid by my Executor and Executrix hereafter named.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Grand Son, Edmund <\/strong><\/span>Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Stephen Chancey<\/strong>, the Easternmost part of my <\/span>Plantation and for a Division to begin in and by the Southeast <\/span>Side of the Branch which Runs through Laurance Retons <\/span>pattent then Runing north fifteen degrees west through the <\/span>middle of an Island that Lies in an Elbow of the Said Branch <\/span>four hundred and Ten yards then north thirty five degrees west <\/span>through my Land Granted to me in two pattents and a Con<\/span>vayance from Laurance Retons pattent and a Deed from nath<\/span>inel martin according to the Divison aforsaid Give to my <\/span>Grand Son Edmund Chancey<\/strong> Son of Stephen Chancey<\/strong> to him <\/span>his heirs and assigns.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Grand Son, Edmund <\/strong><\/span>Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Jacob Chancey<\/strong>, the middle most part of my <\/span>plantation adjoining to the Eastermost part begining at the <\/span>Divison aforsaid, then Runing down the Branch to the mouth <\/span>of it with a Streight Corse to the main Swamp of newbegun <\/span>Creek, then Runing up and Joyning to the said Swamp Various <\/span>Corses to the mouth of a Cypruss Branch which Runs out of <\/span>the main Swamp, aforsaid, Just below the narrow Sandhills, <\/span>then Runing up and Joining to the middle of the main fork <\/span>of it then north Six Degrees west through my Land I Give to <\/span><\/span>my Grand Son, Edmund Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Jacob Chancey<\/strong>, <\/span>to him his heirs and assigns.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Grand Son, Edmund <\/strong><\/span>Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Zachariah Chancey<\/strong>, my Sandhills Land ad<\/span>joining to the west Side of my Grand Son, Edmund Chancey<\/strong>, <\/span>Son of Jacob Chancey<\/strong>, begining at the mouth of the Cypruss <\/span>branch aforsaid, then Runing up and Joining to the East Side <\/span><\/span>of the main Swamp, I Give to my Grand Son, Edmund Chancey<\/strong>, <\/span>Son of Zachariah Chancey<\/strong>, to him his heirs and assigns, but if <\/span>my Grand Son, Edmund Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Jacob Chancey<\/strong>, <\/span>Should die without Esue, then it is my will that the Land Should <\/span>fall to my Grand Son, Edmund<\/strong> Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Stephen Chan<\/strong><\/span>cey<\/strong>, to him, his heirs and assigns; and it is my will that my <\/span>Daughter in Law, Rachel Chancey<\/strong>, Shall have the Liberty to <\/span><\/span>Dwell on the Eastermost part of my plantation, and to Enjoy <\/span>the benefits of it with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging,\u00a0<\/span>untel my Grand Son, Edmund Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Stephen Chan<\/strong><\/span>cey<\/strong>, doth Come to the age of Twenty one years, and for her to <\/span>pay the yearly Quitrents for the Same, and it is my will also, <\/span>that my Daughter in Law, Rachel Chancey<\/strong>, Shall have full <\/span>previlleg and use of the middlemost part of my plantation, and <\/span>for her to pay the yearly Quitrente for the Same, untill my Grand <\/span>Son, Edmund Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Jacob Chancey<\/strong>, doth Come to <\/span>the age of Twenty one years.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeath unto my Son, Daniel Chancey<\/strong>, <\/span>five pounds, Virginia money, and my Two Servants, Jack Span<\/span>yerd boe and Spanyoll Boe, During the time of their Servitud, <\/span>by their Indenters, and Two feather Beds and Bolsters, and and <\/span>Two Ruggs, and all my wearing Cloths, and my Riding Saddle <\/span>and Bridle, and Sorrel mair, and Three young horses, and Two <\/span>Large pewter Dishes, and Two Small ones, and Two Large <\/span>pewter Basons and one Small one, and one Dozn. of Spoons, <\/span>and Two milling Iron pots, and a full pot, an one aim, and my <\/span>Large Bible, and a pair of Brass Scales, and five weights, and <\/span>one Iron Skillet, and Ten pounds of woll.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Son, Zachariah Chan<\/strong><\/span>cey<\/strong>, one Shilling, Sterling money, to Cut him off from my <\/span>Raiel and personal Estate, because of the wickedness that he <\/span>Committed in my house in the time of my absence.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I Give and bequeth unto my Daughter in Law,\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Rachel Chancey<\/strong>, my white mair, and yearling horse named\u00a0<\/span>Trip and go, and my mair named Trim and her Encreas,\u00a0<\/span>and a Spice morter and pestel, and Currying knife, and all my\u00a0<\/span>Coopers and Carpenters and Shoe makers Tools, and my\u00a0<\/span>Stakle, and Three Iron weges, and all my home Spun Linning,\u00a0<\/span>and welling Cloth, and all my Thread thereunto Relating, and\u00a0<\/span>one Brass Candle Stick, and one box Iron, and Two heters, and\u00a0<\/span>Three Supe plates, and all my Sifters, Three Iron pots, one\u00a0<\/span>Large and Two midling and a brass kittle, and a Iron Skillet, and\u00a0<\/span>one frying pan, Two pair of pot hooks, and Two pair of Tongs\u00a0<\/span>and one pair of Stilerds, and a TM funnel, and Three Vhests Two\u00a0<\/span>in the outward Room and one heigh Chest, and half my Leath<\/span>er, and Two feather beds, and Two Bolsters, Two Ruggs and\u00a0<\/span>one pair of Blankets, one pair of Sheets, and Two Bedsteads and\u00a0<\/span>Cords, and a Large Dish and Two middling ones, and one Lare\u00a0<\/span>pewter Bason, and a midling one, and one Small one, and Six\u00a0<\/span>pewter plates, and one full pot, and a par of Talers Shears, and\u00a0<\/span>a Looking glass, and one Dozn. of Spoons, and one pewter\u00a0<\/span>Chamber pot, and all my Chears, and Two Juggs, and all my\u00a0<\/span>Round Bottles, and a Gun, and my welling and Linning wheals,\u00a0<\/span>and Sixteen Barrels of Corn, and four hundred and fifty pounds\u00a0<\/span>of Dryed Meat, and Three Gallons of fatt, and Two Bushels\u00a0<\/span>of Salt, and my Sope, and one Quarter part of my Sweetning,\u00a0<\/span>and my work horses Named Rone and Roney, and Baul and\u00a0<\/span>Huzzes Two year old horse, and all my Plows, hoes and axes,\u00a0<\/span>with the gears, and on grind Stone, one pair of mill Stones, and\u00a0<\/span>my woll Cards and Eight Cows and Calves or yerlings, and\u00a0<\/span>four Stears, one Quarter part of my hoggs, and my wheat\u00a0<\/span>patch, and all my black peper and all my flax and woll and\u00a0<\/span>Sheep, and also my Servants bob boe, and Rachel boe, and\u00a0<\/span>frank boe, and her Two Children, Durin the time of their In<\/span>denters.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Grand Daughter, Mary <\/strong><\/span>Chancey<\/strong>, Daughter of Jacob Chancey<\/strong>, one feather bed and a <\/span>Bolster, and a Rug, and a blanket and a Sheet and Six Spoons, <\/span>and Two Iron pots, and a full pot, and a brass Candle Stick, and<\/span>Three pewter plates, and a pewter Bason, and a frying pan, and <\/span>Three Sheep and Two Cows and Calves, Two Saws and Six <\/span><\/span>Shotes, and one dish.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Grand Son, Edmund <\/strong><\/span>Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Jacob Chancey<\/strong>, Two Cows and Calves, and <\/span>Two Sows and Six Shotes and Three Sheep, Two pots and a <\/span>Pewter Bason, a Dish and Three plates, & two Razors and a <\/span>hone.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Grand Daughter, <\/span>hannah Chancey<\/strong>, Daughter of Zachariah Chancey<\/strong>, one year<\/span>ling mair Colt and one Iron pot.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Grand Son, Edmund <\/strong><\/span>Chancey<\/strong>, Son of\u00a0Zachariah Chancey<\/strong>, one Cow and Calf, and <\/span>Two Iron pots, and my will is that my grand Daughter, mary <\/strong><\/span>Chancey<\/strong>, and my grand Son, Edmund Chancey<\/strong>, and my grand <\/span>Daughter, Hannah Chancey<\/strong>, and my grand Son, Edmund <\/strong><\/span><\/span>Chancey<\/strong>, Son of Zachariah Chancey<\/strong>, Shall have their Legacies <\/span>which I have Given them Delivered to them within Three <\/span>months after my Deceas, and they Shall Run all Resks and <\/span>
\nhazards of Loses of whr I have given them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto James Furbish<\/strong>, my Book <\/span>no Cross no Crown.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Grand Son, John Bakor<\/strong>, <\/span>all the Remainder part of my Books.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto mulato Jack<\/strong> Ten Shillings <\/span>Cash.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I Give and bequeth unto my Daughter Ruths<\/strong> Chil<\/span>dren, viz : John Bakor<\/strong>, mary Degrafenred<\/strong>, Blake Bakor<\/strong>, Sarah <\/strong><\/span>Bakor<\/strong>, Ruth Bakor<\/strong>, and Zadock Bakor<\/strong>, all the Remainder <\/span>part of my personal Estate to be Eaqually Divided among them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I do hereby Constitute, make and ordain my Grand <\/span>Son, John Bakor<\/strong>, to be my Executor, and my Daughter in <\/span>Law, Rachel Chancey<\/strong>, to be my Executrix to this my Last will <\/span>and Testament and I do hereby utterly Disallow Revoke and <\/span>Disarm all and Every other former will by me in any wise made <\/span>Ratifieing and Constituteing this to be my Last will & Testa<\/span>ment.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

These may Certifie that Jonathan Reding<\/strong> and Robert Hall<\/strong>, Two of the\u00a0<\/span>Evidences to the within Will, appeared in open Court and made Oath on <\/span>the Holy Evangelist that they ware present and Saw Edmund Chancey <\/strong><\/span>Sign, Seal, publish and declare the within to be and Contain his last will\u00a0<\/span>and Testament, And that he, the said Edmund Chancey<\/strong>, was Att that <\/span>time of sound and disposeing Memory. And that they also Saw William <\/strong><\/span>Swann,<\/strong> the other Evidence Sign his Name thereto att the same time. <\/span><\/span>
\nThen appeared Rachel Chancey<\/strong>, Executrix, and was duly Qualified as <\/span>
\nSuch.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ordered that the Honorable James Murray Esqr Sec. have Notice that <\/span>
\nLetters Testamentory issue &c.\u00a0<\/span>dated att the Clarks office the 18nth day of July, Annoq. Dom., 1753.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
