EMANUEL LOW<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

1727<\/span><\/p>\n

IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, the Second Day of the First <\/span>Month in the Year of our Lord, 1726\/7. I, Emanuelle Low<\/strong>, of <\/span>the prec’t of Pasquotanck, & Province of North Carolina, being <\/span>Sick of Body but or perfect mind & memory, considering that <\/span>it is appointed for all men once to dye, Do make & ordain this <\/span>to be my Last Will & Testament, in Manner following:<\/span><\/p>\n

1st., I bequeath my Soul to Almighty God, my maker; and <\/span>my body to the Earth to be interred by me Executrix hereafter <\/span>named, without any funeral pomp, only about Six of my Friends <\/span>& Neighbours.<\/span><\/p>\n

2’ly. I Give & bequeath unto my Loving Daughter, Anna <\/strong><\/span>Letitia Low<\/strong>, and to her heirs for ever, my Plantation whereon <\/span>I now Live, w’th five hundred Acres of Land Adjoining to it; <\/span>also, one negro Girl Called Zilpah w’th her Increase for ever; <\/span>also, one bed & furniture, to her, the sd. Anna Letitia Low<\/strong>, <\/span>and her heirs for ever.<\/span><\/p>\n

31y. I give & bequeath unto my Grandson, George Low<\/strong>, <\/span>Son of my Beloved Son, Nevil Low<\/strong>, Decd., and now in the <\/span>Kingdom of Great Britain, the Plantation where my Cousin <\/em><\/span>Robinson<\/em> now Lives & the Plantation called New Abbey, <\/span>with four Hundred Acres of Land adjoyning to it, to him, the <\/span>Sd. George Low<\/strong>, & to his heirs for ever; also, one feather Bed <\/span>& furniture, & one Negro boy called Pompey; also, my Seal <\/span>Scutcheon of Arms.<\/span><\/p>\n

4’ly. My Will & meaning is that either my Daughter, Anna <\/strong><\/span>Letitia Low<\/strong>, or my Grandson, George Low<\/strong>, they or either of <\/span>their Heirs, shall be disposed to sell the Lands by me given, <\/span>that the same shall be sold and disposed of to one or the other <\/span>of the partyes aforesd, and to no other person or persons <\/span>whatsoever.<\/span><\/p>\n

To prevent any Dispute that may arrise after my Decease, <\/span>by any pretension my Grandson may make as heir to his father, <\/span>Nevil Low<\/strong>, to the Lands cmmonly called the Town point, <\/span>Lying on the mouth of the North West side of Newbegun <\/span>Creek, & now in possession of Jno. Conner<\/strong>; It is my Will that <\/span>my Daughter Anna Letitia<\/strong>, her heirs or assigns shall keep in <\/span>possession all ye before mentioned Legacies, w’th Lands & all <\/span>other things by me bequeathed to him, ye Sd. George Low<\/strong>, in <\/span>this my last Will, untill he renounce all Such pretensions in <\/span>Such manner as the learned in the Law shall think proper: but <\/span>is my sd. Grandson refuse to comply as before mentioned & <\/span>offer to Molest the Sd. John Conner<\/strong>, his heirs or assings in his <\/span>Just Right and Title of the Said Tract of Land by me Sold & <\/span>conveyed to him & his heirs, Then, I Do revoke all that part <\/span>of this my Will, unto my sd. Grandson, And Do give & be<\/span>queath all that Legacy, as Lands, & other things therein<\/span>mentioned, unto my Daughter, Anna Letitia Low<\/strong>, and her <\/span>heirs for Ever, she paying him Twenty pounds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item, My Will is, that all my Estate, both Real & Personal <\/span>be & remaine in the possession of my Loving Wife, Ann Low<\/strong>, <\/span>during Life, the personall Estate to be disposed of by her <\/span>between my Loving Daughter, Anna Letitia Low<\/strong>, & my <\/span>Grandson George<\/strong>, as shee shall think most proper.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, I appoint my Loving Wife, my whole & Sole Execu<\/span>trix of this my Last Will & Testament, to see the Same duly <\/span>Executed.<\/span><\/p>\n

In witness whereof, I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal <\/span>the day and year afosd.<\/span><\/p>\n

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, The last Will of the afsd. <\/span>Emanl. Low<\/strong> as follows: Whereas in the former Words of my <\/span>Will was omitted my Intentions about my Grandson, George <\/strong><\/span>Low<\/strong>, therefore to prevent Disputes, My Will is that my Grand<\/span>son, George Low<\/strong>, Shall not Enjoy the Legacy by me given <\/span>untill he come to the age of Twenty one Years & in the mean <\/span>time to continue in the Hands of my Executrix.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item, I give unto Johanna Pearce<\/strong>, five pounds.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal <\/span>this 8th. Day of March, 1726\/7.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item, Whereas, in my last will & Testament, I appointed <\/span>my loveing Wife my sole Executrix, I doe now no ways to Ab<\/span>brogate or make Voyde any part of my sd. Sill, but Joine my <\/span>Daughter, Anna Letitia Low<\/strong>, Executrix, with my loveing wife <\/span>Ann Low<\/strong>, to See this my Last Will & Testament duly Executed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item, Whereas, I am administrat’r to Wm. Vaughn, Decd. <\/span>I do appoint my said Executrixes to be Executrix’s or adminis<\/span>tratr’xs, giving and bequeathing to my Sd. Executrixs all my <\/span>right or interest in and to my Sd. Administratorships.<\/span>

The Two foregoing Codicile annexed to this Will was proved ye first <\/span>by the solemn affirmation of Mrs. Filia Chrish Jordan<\/strong>, one of the Evidences <\/span>thereunto. The other by ye like solemn affirmation of Joanna Pearce<\/strong>, one <\/span>of ye Evidences thereunto, who likewise attested that she Saw the other <\/span>Evidences Sign thereunto.<\/span><\/p>\n
