JOHN WRIGHT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

1772<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of God amen. The 32 June 1772 I John Wright<\/strong> being sick and <\/span>weak in body but of perfect mind and memory that is be given unto the <\/span>Almighty God for it and calling to mind the mortality of my body and <\/span>knowing it is appointed unto all men once to die, do make and ordain <\/span>this my last will and testament that is to say principally.\u00a0<\/span>First of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of God that <\/span>gave it and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a <\/span>Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors hereafter <\/span>mentioned and touching my worldly estate wherewith it has been pleasing <\/span>God to bless me with in this life I give and bequeath in the manner and <\/span>form following.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give and bequeath unto my son John Wright<\/strong> one hundred and fifty <\/span>acres of land that I bought of John Forbes<\/em> and Barbasa Blo___<\/em> to him <\/span>and his heirs forever. I also give to my said son one negro boy, six <\/span>cows and calves and nine sheep and one young horse for his part of my <\/span>estate in as much as I have given him considerable before.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give unto my two sons Cornelius Wright<\/strong> and Barnaba Wright<\/strong> my <\/span>plantation and land hereunto belonging whereon I now live to be equally <\/span>divided I give to them and their heirs forever but in case either of <\/span>them should die without an heir lawfully begotten of their body his <\/span>part I give to my son Wm. Wright<\/strong> to him and his heirs forever and in <\/span>case both sons die in like manner I give the other part to my son Peter <\/strong><\/span>Wright<\/strong> to him and his heirs forever. I also give to my sd two sone <\/span>Cornelius<\/strong> and Barnaba Wright<\/strong> each of them a young negro and to each of <\/span>them two feather beds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give and bequeath my son William Wright<\/strong> fifty acres of land <\/span>know by the name Great Island to him and his heirs forever and two <\/span>likely young negroes and two feather beds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give and bequeath unto my three sons Peter Wright<\/strong>, Gamiel <\/strong><\/span>Wright<\/strong> and Mathias Wright<\/strong> one negro woman named Venus and her increase <\/span>and a negro woman Rachael and her increase. Excepting Eastys and Judah <\/span>is left out. I also so give to each of afsd three sons two good feather <\/span>beds to each of them and the afsd negroes and their increase as <\/span>aforesaid to be equally divided to my afsd three sons (camed over first <\/span>time, brought over first time) Peter Wright<\/strong>, Gamiel Wright<\/strong> and Mathias <\/strong><\/span>Wright<\/strong>, when the youngest comes to age or marriage.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Lydia Gilford<\/strong> seventy <\/span>shillings proclamation money for her part in so much as I have given <\/span>her considerable before.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I reserve the use of my negro woman named Nevda and her increase <\/span>to my daughter Pussa Lindsay<\/strong> which said negro I have had lent to my <\/span>said daughter and do reserve the one of the aforesaid negro and her <\/span>increase to my daughter Pussa<\/strong> during her natural life. At her decease I <\/span>give the afsd negro woman and her increase to be divided equally <\/span>amongst all the children of my said daughter and for want of such <\/span>children I give the afsd negroes to be equally divided amongst my six <\/span>
\nchildren to wit: Cornelius Wright<\/strong>, Barnaba Wright<\/strong>, William Wright<\/strong>, <\/span>Peter Wright<\/strong>, Gamiel<\/strong> Wright<\/strong> and Matthew Wright<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I reserve the use of my negro girl named Till and her increase to <\/span>my daughter Nancy Morgan<\/strong> which said negro I have had lent to my said <\/span>daughter and do now reserve the use of the said negro girl and her <\/span>increase to my said daughter during her natural life and her decease I <\/span>give the afsd negro to be equally divided amongst all my said daughters <\/span>children and for want of such children then I give the afsd negroes to <\/span>be equally divided between my six children to wit: Cornelius Wright<\/strong>, <\/span>
\nBarnaba Wright<\/strong>, William Wright<\/strong>, Peter Wright<\/strong>, Gamiel Wright<\/strong> and Mathias <\/strong><\/span>
\nWright<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Jean Wright<\/strong> one third <\/span>part of my plantation and land I live on and one third of my movable <\/span>estate during her natural life and at her decease my will and desire is <\/span>to be equally divided amongst my six sons to wit: Cornelius Wright<\/strong>, <\/span>Barnabas Wright<\/strong>, William Wright<\/strong>, Peter Wright<\/strong>, Gamiel<\/strong> Wright<\/strong> and <\/span>Mathias Wright<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give and bequeath unto my six sons the rest of my estate to <\/span>wit: Cornelius<\/strong> Wright<\/strong>, Barnaba Wright<\/strong>, William Wright<\/strong>, Peter Wright<\/strong>, <\/span>Gamiel Wright<\/strong> and Mathias Wright<\/strong> to be equally divided between them my <\/span>said six sons (camed over second time, brought over second time)<\/span><\/p>\n

I nominate and appoint my four sons Cornelius Wright<\/strong>, Barnaba Wright<\/strong>, <\/span>William<\/strong> Wright<\/strong> and Peter Wright<\/strong> executors to this my last will and <\/span>testament and I do utterly revoke and disannul every other will and <\/span>testament retifying and confirming this and no other to contain my last <\/span>will and testament.<\/span><\/p>\n

Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and delivered by the said John <\/strong><\/span>Wright<\/strong> as his last will and testament in presence of us the day and <\/span>date first written.<\/span>
