In the Name of God Amen<\/span>
\nI William Rodes <\/strong>of Pasquotank in Albemarle County in North Carolina being Very\u00a0<\/span>sick & weak in body but of perfect mind & Memory thanks be given unto God & <\/span>knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye, Do make and Ordain this <\/span>my last Will and Testament. That is to say principale and first of all I give <\/span>and recommend my Soul unto the hands of God that gave it & …ing Such worldly <\/span>Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life, I give Devise <\/span>Dispose of the Same in the following manner and forme:<\/span><\/p>\n

Imprimis I give & bequeath unto my beloved wife Eliz. Rodes<\/strong> during her life no <\/span>longer the Plantation where I now live with the priviledge of the Track of <\/span>land belonging to it. I give to my wife pt. of that Track of Land which I <\/span>boug’t of Isaac Jones<\/em>\/ …\/ from Isaac Jones Line<\/em> to the Alewood Ridge.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give unto my son Thomas Rodes<\/strong> the remaining pt. of that Land I boug’t <\/span>of Isaac Jones<\/em> and after my Wifes Decease, the whole Track. I likewise give my <\/span>son Thomas<\/strong> my Gun & two Cows and one Heiffer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give unto my Son William Rodes<\/strong> after my wife’s Decease the Man’r <\/span>Plantation where I live and one Cow and one Heiffer and yearling.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give unto my daughter Sarah Rodes<\/strong> Two Cows and Three Heiffers and One <\/span>Calf and one Puter(sic) Basen and One featherbed after my Wifes decease and <\/span>one Chest. And to my daughter Dorothy Rodes<\/strong> one featherbed & furniture after <\/span>my wifes decease and Three Cows one Heiffer and two Calves and one puter Basen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give to my daughter Eliz. Rodes<\/strong> Two Heiffers and one puter Basen and <\/span>one puter Dish.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give to my daughter Mary Rodes<\/strong> Two Heiffers and one puter Basen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give to my son Thomas<\/strong> my Shoemakers Tools.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give unto my beloved wife Seven Steers for the use of her House and <\/span>three old Cows.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife all others of my Moveables and <\/span>Immovables Whom likewise I do Constitute Ordain and make my only and Sole <\/span>Execut’x With my belov’d. friend William Rolfe<\/strong> one Execut’r. of this my last <\/span>will and testament. And I do hereby utterly disalow revoke and disanull every <\/span>other former Testaments & Wills Legacies etc. Ratifying and Confirming this <\/span>and no other to be my last Will and Testament.<\/span><\/p>\n

This may Certify that Francis Martin<\/strong> & James Biggers<\/strong> two of the subscribing <\/span>Evidences to the written Will appeared in open Court and made oath on the Holy <\/span>Evangelist that they were present and saw William Rodes<\/strong> Sign Seal and declaire <\/span>the Within to be and contain his last will and Testament and that the said Wm. <\/strong><\/span>Rodes <\/strong>was seen at that time of sound and disposing Memory. And that they also <\/span>saw Comfort Cammill<\/strong> the other subscribing Evidence sign her name thereto at <\/span>the same time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then also appeared William Rolfe<\/strong> Executor & Eliz. Rodes<\/strong> in open court & took <\/span>
\nthe Executors’ Oath in due form of Law.<\/span><\/p>\n
