Query: SMITH, Thomas J. & Sarah/Sallie (Melvin)

Looking for gravestone photo of Thomas J. Smith and his wife, Sarah/Sallie T. (Melvin) Smith. Thomas died July 9, 1930 and Sarah/Sallie died April 12, 1917. Both of their death certificates say they were buried at Shelter Neck. However, Find-A-Grave website says Sears Cemetary. No one can locate Sears Cemetery. Other people who are buried by them are Thomas’ brother, Gilbert J Smith (WWI vet) and his wife, Julia, and Thomas’ sister and husband, Beebie & Luther Wright Deal. Other people who are buried by them are Thomas’ son, Gilbert J Smith (WWI vet) and his wife, Julia, and Thomas’ daughter and husband, Beebie & Luther Wright Deal. Can someone help me find them?

Also, looking for an obituary for Thomas J. Smith. He was born about 1849 in Georgia and married to Sarah about 1889ish in Cumberland Co, NC. Can someone also help with this?

Address off Rte 117

My name is Floyd Mattoon doing research on surnames GRIMES, EVANS and BLOODWORTH.  I am looking for the physical address of a Patent of David Evans made in 1736 of 640 acres in present Pender County, probably on rt 117 headed toward Duplin county line. Below are listed the names of persons who occupied lots in what was South Washington. This was a village of 62 lots where residences were built and about 7 stores were located. It was located off rt 117 where the present Riverview cemetery is located, a mile before Rockfish creek. The names are located below to the best of my ability.

Costin Surname Research

I found my in my Mother’s Bible the following information:

My mother Corrine Elizabeth Costin Newell :Her Mother Elma Corrine Costin and
sister Nellie Dean Costin were born to Dulie Costin and Stewart Costin. (Dulie
Costin died 06-24-1941). From what I learned Dulie Costin and Stewart were
cousins, and he died at an early age. Dulie Costin were the children of Chancey
Costin and Mary Moore. I can not locate any information on Stewart Costin.

Also in talking with my Mother over the years they lived and own a farm in Watha
or surround area of Watha, and there were several uncles she mention. Uncle
Oscar, Uncle Early, Uncle Mike who married Aunt Laura, and several other names,
one being a sister who I think moved up North. I have listed on some paper work that
is filed away.

I’ve been working on this information for several years here and there. I am not very
good at this, however I fine it very interesting. My plans were to go to Burgaw and
look up data, and visit the cemetery.
