BEAUTIFUL WEDDING – Miss Gertrude Rivenbark Became Bride of Prominent Young Business Man
Ms. Getrude RIVENBARK, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.T. RIVENBARK, of Williard, NC and Mr. Thos. G. COVINGTON, a leading young business man of Clio, SC, were happily united in marriage at the home of the bride’s parents, at Wiliard, yesterday at high noon, Rev. Dr. Calvin S. BLACKWELL, of this city, officiating.
Miss Zennie CROOM, of Burgaw, was maid of honor, and Mr. Baxter A. FLETCHER, of Clio, was best man. Miss Exie CROOM, of Burgaw, charmingly rendered the wedding marches. The following group of young ladies were bridesmaids: Miss Clara Lane WILLS, of McColl; Miss Katie VEACH of Warsaw; Miss Linda DOZIER, of Wilmington; Miss Mamie JOHNSON, of Williard; Miss Eveline POWERS, of Williard. The ushers were: Mr. F.T. CROOM, of Burgaw; Mr. Jas. M. JOHNSON, of Williard, Mr. Bernard A. EDENS, of Dillon, SC; Mr. John C. WIGGINS, of Wilmington; and Mr. R.J. RIVENBARK, of Darlington, SC.
The delightful occasion brought together a large company, among whom were Mr. J.C. COVINGTON, of Clio, Mr. C.C. RIVENBARK, of Sanford; Mr. J.W. RIVENBARK, of Wilmington; Miss Katie SHOLAR, of Wilmington; Mrs. Eva Forrester RIVENBARK, of Burgaw, and other members of the family and friends.
The bridesmaids and maids of honor were in white organdi. The bride wore an elegant going-away gown of castor venetian cloth with velvet lining — Wilmingon Star Jan. 29th.

PEARSALL, William Wilson (1943)

DIED – Rocky Point, N. C., Dec. 2. – W. W. Pearsall, Sr., 62, died at his home here at 4 p.m. yesterday after a lengthy illness. Mr. Pearsall was a former member of the county board of education and had been chairman of Pender county board of elections for the past eight years and always active in community affairs.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Belle Sparkman Pearsall, and seven children: W. W., Jr., Mrs. Beverly Paul,Eloise and Martha K., and S. F. Pearsall, all of Rocky Point. Mrs. J. Wilbur Breece of Fayetteville, and C. E. Pearsall of Wilmington. Two brothers and a sister also survive.
Funeral services were held from the Rocky Point Methodist church Thursday at 4 p.m. Interment followed in Pike Creek Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Allison Croom, Joe I. Moore, James Pearsall, Dr. H. W. Stevens, Jr., Joseph Casey, Jr., J. A. Casha and R. H. Balcombe.

Note: William Wilson Pearsall was born in Duplin County, NC on 22 Mar 1883, the son of Edward Dickson Pearsall and Barbara Susan Armstrong. Barbara was the daughter of Thomas James Armstrong. William Wilson Pearsall and Mary Belle Sparkman were married at the Rocky Point M. E. Church on 12 Jan 1909.
