The following information is from\u00a0from the book\u00a0History of Perquimans County<\/a>\u00a0by Ellen Goode Rawlings Winslow, (1931).\u00a0There are many known errors<\/strong> in this book so be sure to verify the information <\/strong>you are researching with other sources.<\/strong><\/p>\n THE FAMILY BIBLE<\/strong><\/p>\n OF<\/strong><\/p>\n PERQUIMANS CO.<\/strong><\/p>\n As prepared from County records, Berkeley Parish Register, Quaker records, both in North Carolina, and Virginia, County records, and other records of other Counties in North Carolina, Marriage bonds in Perquimans, and Chowan, also some in Pasquotank and Gates Co, where they were pertinent to Perquimans. Records of Virginia, letters, loose papers, and other documents, wherever found.<\/p>\n Some of this data was submitted by persons living in the Middle West, whose ancestors migrated there from N. C. carrying with them Quaker records of great value. The writer had no opportunity to verify the data thus sent in, but the senders were persons of proven veracity, anxious to serve the public, and gave of their knowledge, a valuable contribution to posterity. These records are true copies of the old ones in Perquimans, which have been destroyed.<\/p>\n The State of N. C. should, and will at some early date, we feel sure, send some competent, careful person on a mission to Guilford College, and make a copy of the vital statistics, if no more, there recorded, on the perfectly marvelous Quaker records, kept in the fire-proof safe of said College. That would be a most valuable addition to the great collection already in the Hall of History, Raleigh, N. C. The writer hopes to live to see this accomplished. No State in the Union can boast of more wonderful, or more complete records of any county, than those recorded on the Quaker Mo Meeting of Perq Co. These marriages there written take the early settlers before coming to Perq, in some cases, on down through their migration, to the Rev. and then over the mountains to other States.
