March Court 1792
This Indenture made this 20th day of March in the year 1792 between JOHN PAINE esq. in behalf of his fellow Justices of the County Court of Person and their Successors and Assigns of the one part, and RICHARD SANDERS of the Other part.
Witnesseth that the said JOHN PAINE Esq. in persuance to an order the said Court made the day and date above written doth put place and bind unto the said RICHARD SANDERS, TENAH PETTEFORD an orphan now of the age of Three years August next to live after the manner of an apprentice and servant untill she shall attain to the age of eighteen years dureing all which time her said Master faithfully shall serve his lawfull commands everywhere, gladly obey she shall not at anytime absent herself from her said Masters service but in all things as a good and faithful servant shall behave towards her said Master. And the said RICHARD SANDERS doth covenant promise and agree to and with the said JOHN PAINE esquire that he will teach and instruct or cause to be taught and treated the said TENAH PETTEFORD according to law to read, wright &c also the art and mistery of a spinster and that he will constantly find and provide for the apprentice aforesaid sufficient diet, washing lodging and apparel fitting for an apprentice and servant and also all other things necessary both in sickness and in health. In witness whereof the parties to thes presents hath interchangeably set ther hand & affixt their seals the day and year first above written.
