Know all men by these presents That I Henry R. Baird of the county
of Brunswick and State of Virginia have made, constituted and
appointed, and in my place and stead put depute John Baird &
Nathaniel H. Baird (Exors of Wm Baird) dec’d of North Carolina my
true and lawful attorneys for me and in my name, place and stead to
grant Bargain and sell all the lands belonging to the Estate of Wm
Baird dec’d in which I as a legatee am intrusted with the
appurtances and all my estate right title, and interest therein
_________ such person or persons, and for such price or prices as
they shall think proper and also for me and in my name place, and
stead and as my proper act and deed or deeds of conveyance, as shall
be necessary for the absolute granting and assuring of the premises
unto the purchase of purchasers, in fee sample, Hereby ________
effectually all and whatsoever my said alimonies shall lawfully do
in and about the premises by virtue hereof – I witness whereof I
have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 12 day of December 1837 Henry R. Baird [seal] State of North Carolina ] Person County ] Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions December Term 1837 The within Power of Attorney was duly exehibited in Open Court for probate and there being no subscribing witnesses, It is proved by the oath and examination of John A. Baird that he the said John A. Baird is well acquainted with the hand writing of Henry R. Baird having often seen him write, and that the name of the said Henry R. Baird is in his own hand writing, Therefore let the said Power of Attorney together with his Certificate be registered. This Indenture mad this Twentieth day of October in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six between William Baird
of the one part and William Baird Jr of the other part both of said
parties being of the County of Person and State of North Carolina
witnesseth That the said William Baird for and in consideration of
the affection which he bears to his son William Baird, Jr hath given
granted aliene ___off and confirm unto the said Wm Baird, Jr his
heirs executors administrators an assigns two hundred acres of land
upon the waters of Mayo lying situate and being in the county of
Person and State of North Carolina to have and to hold the said two
hundred acres and its appurtenances to herein the s’d William Baird
Jr and his heirs forever and the s’d Wm Baird does moreover warrant
and defend the aforesaid tract of land and premises to him the s’d
Wm Baird, jr and his heirs forever against the claim or demand of
heirs the s’d Wm Baird and his heirs and against the claim or demand
of any other person or persons whatsoever In witness whereof the s’d
Wm Baird hath hereunto set his hand and affixed is seal the day and
year first above written. Wm Baird [seal] Ack Signed sealed and delivered In the presence of State of North Carolina ] Court of Plea & Quarter Sessions Person County ] March Term 1839 The execution of the within deed was duly acknowledged in open court and ordered to be registered. December Term 1794 Be it Known to all to whom it may concern that I JOHN BARNETT do by these presents constitute & impower WILLIAM WARD of the County of Randolph or BEN DOUGLASS or any one of them if I be absent to assign in my name a deed of Conveyance to PHILLIP BOROUGH or his order for a certain tract of land in the County of Guilford containing 27 acres be the same more or less & sign my name there unto & seal, with full power from me given under my hand this 25th day of December 1790. To all people to who these presents shall come I Woody Brooks of Person County and State of North Carolina, send greeting Know ye that I the said
Woody Brooks for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and bear unto my beloved children Frances Brooks John James
Brooks, and Wiley Brooks, and for ________ other good causes & considerations me hereunto moving hath given and granted & by these presents doth give &
grant unto my dutiful daughter Frances Brooks two feather Beds & furniture one bed sted one pine chest & Three head of cattle – I give unto my dutiful
son John James Brooks one sorrel horse one feather bed & four head of cattle-Bedsted & furniture to go with said bed- I give unto my dutiful son Wiley
Brooks one sorrel horse call’d Ruby one yoak and oxens & an ______ Two feather beds & furniture one bedsted & the balance of my house hold and kitchen
furniture I also give unto my said children one Negro Woman slave by the name of
Patty to be eaqually divided amongst them thereselves & my stock of
Hogs also- I also give unto my said three children Frances Brooks John James Brooks and Wiley Brooks all my wright & title to the tract of land whereon
I live Five Hundred & eighty five acres or thereabouts – to have hold & enjoy all & singular the said goods & chattels Lands & Tenements unto the said
Frances Books John James Brooks & Wiley Brooks their executors administrators and assigns to ______ only proper use – and ______ of them the said
Frances Brooks John James Brooks & Wiley Brooks their executors administrators and assigns for ever and I the said Woody Brooks all & singular the
aforesaid goods & chattels Lands & Tenements to the said Frances Brooks John James Brooks & Wiley Brooks their executors administrators and assigns
against all persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents in witness my hand & seal – But it is to be Strictly understood
that this deed & gift is not to defraud my just writers that the aforesaid Francis Brooks John J Brooks & Wiley Brooks are ours of the said property to
