He married &#8220;Ara&#8221; York . Ara was also born about 1823 in NC. The 1860 US Federal Census lists John Aldridge (36 years old) as a &#8220;miller&#8221; living near Asheboro. He and Ara have 6 children Samuel (b.1844); Tabitha (b.1846), Leander (b.1849), Dennis (b.1855), Lucy Ellen (b.1857), George (b. 1859) and listed in the 1870 US Federal Census a daughter also named Ara (b.1863). The photo has Jack Aldridge but all census records list him as John Aldridge. Samuel Aldridge did survive the war and he came home to Randolph County.
