CURRIE REUNION
ROBESONIAN - August 18, 1921 Issue

Parkton, August 11. Once a year the descendants of B. Currie, son of Cooper Currie, who came to America from Scotland considerably
more than a hundred years ago and settled in Richmond county, come together to spend the day in pleasant social intercourse.
The meeting this year was held at the home of Mr. J.K. Currie, Parkton. Early in the day automobiles began arriving from Robeson, Hoke,
Richmond, Moore and Scotland counties in North Carolina and from Marlboro county, SC. They came early so as to miss none of the pleasures
of the day. It was an interesting thing for an outsider to look on and see old and young men and women, boys and girls, all young, for the
day mingling together, happy and cheerful. There were ninety-three guests present, fifty-five of them bearing then name Currie. The other
names represented were Graham, McLean, Taylor, Norton, Chance, Terry, Thomas and Haley.
At noon a most bountiful dinner was spread on long tables in the grove. The day was spent largely in social intercourse, and for this
purpose any day was too short when friends and relatives had gathered from six counties, many of whom see each other only on these annual
occasions.
It would be hard to overestimate the value of such gatherings. In addition to the pleasures of the day these annual gatherings bind this
family together and helps keep up its high ideals. The next reunion of the family will be held at the home of Mr. Sandy Currie in Scotland
county the first Wednesday in August, 1922.
