The above named gentleman was one of the most successful farmers of Robeson county. He lived near Rowland and was
most highly esteemed by all our people. He had been sick a few weeks with the prevailing grip and on Monday night of
last week gave up the struggle and passed "over the river to rest under the shade of the trees." He was twice married,
and was we presume about 60 years old at the time of his death. We clip the following from the Chief concerning deceased:
ANOTHER PROMINENT ROBESONIAN PASSES AWAY
We are again called upon to chronicle the death of one of Robeson's leading citizens. In the early morning of Tuesday
the spirit of Mr. Daniel P. McKinnon,of Rowland, left its clay tabernacle to pass to a house not made with hands, eternal
in the heavens. He was a fine type of the sturdy Scotch stock which has been the bone and sinew of citizenship of this
section of the State for a century past. A man of fine business sagacity, successful in his enterprises. Possessed of such
traits of character, he was looked upon as one of the staunch supporters and counselors in the Ashepole church,of which he
has long been a member and efficient officer.
"He married miss Maggie Morrison, sister of Messrs. John H. Morrison, of Lumberton, and Archie Morrison, of McColl, S.C.,
who survives him, together with his sons, Graham and Eddie, and daughters, Miss Maggie, all of Rowland, and Mrs. Anna Hines,
of McColl."
"Three brothers, Messrs. McKay, John M. of Maxton, and Rev. Dr. Luther McKinnon of Clinton, N.C., of this well known family,
remain to mourn his loss, all of whim at the time of his death are confined to their beds with sickness."
"Besides his large landed estate he has, we are told, provided for his loved ones' temporal welfare by a legacy of $30,000
life insurance in several companies."
