OBITUARY
Died on the 1st of August, at Hillsboro', Scott county, Mississippi, at the residence
of William Chambers, Esq., after a protracted illness of several months, Elder Henry
Chambers, of the Baptist Church, in the 73rd year of his age, leaving behind him manifest
fruit of his his ministerial labors of many years. ... Elder Chambers was happily renewed
by grace in the prime of life, and united with the Baptist Church in Richmond county,
North Carolina, in 1802 or '3. He commenced his ministerial labors in Tennessee in 1812
or 13, from which time he ceased not to speak of his Master, until borne down with the
weight of many years, disease and death. He was called away from the scenes of his sufferings,
leaving behind an only so and daughter, and a numerous train of connexions and friends to mourn
his loss.
