I, Mary E. Ledbetter, of the County of Richmond and the State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and disposing memory do declare
this to be my last will and testament. I direct that after my death all my property both real and personal be sold and that from the
proceeds my just debts and funeral expenses be paid, and that a modest monument be erected at my grave and that a durable Rock wall be
built around the Steele graveyard at Littles Mills where my parents are buried and that after these directions are carried out, the
remainder of my estate be divided equally share and share alike between the children of my brother P. A. Ledbetter deceased, should
one of the said children die before the execution of this will his or her child or children shall inherit his or her part of my estate.
Witness my hand and seal this the third day of September 1933.
Mary E. Ledbetter (Seal)
Written 1933 Proved 1934
Note:
Mary's will specifies that a "durable rock wall be built around the Steele graveyard at Littles Mills." The name McRae and the
date 1936 are scratched in the top of the wall to the right of the cemetery gate.
