County of Richmond 

In the name of God amen.  I, Robt J Steele, Senr of the county of Richmond and State of North Carolina being in perfect health of body 
mind and memory, Thanks be to God for the same Calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men 
once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul 
into the hands of the Almighty that gave it and my body to the earth to be burried in christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, 
and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life.  I give devise and dispose of the same 
in the following manner and form.

First I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Little two negroes Hanah and Susanah which she has now in possession.

Secondly, I give to my five children Thomas Robt Polly John & William Steele two negroes each of equal Value to the above mentioned-my 
daughter Polly to have dilcie for one of her two, and all the rest of my negroes to be Equally divided between my 

four sons and two Daughters Except Patrick and Sarah which I leave for my son Thomas to take care of.

Thirdly I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Steele the following tracts or parcel of land beginning at the mouth of a gut [a narrow 
passage or channel of water] below my ford on the East side of little river running up the said gut or branch to the waggon  road leading 
from said Ford to the yellow house then up the said road to within one hundred yards of the corner of the dividing line of Munnerlyn's 
former tract and mine thence a Direct course to the river thence down the Various Courses of the river including the Island to the begining 
also all the lands in said county on the west side of little river including all the Improvements thereupon.

Fourthly I will and bequeath to my daughter Polly Steele the following lands (to wit)  Beginning at the mouth of the aforesaid gut Thomas 
Steele's begining and with his line to the river then up the Various Courses of said river to Edward Chamber's line, then with Chambers 
lines oposite Robt Livert's Corner on cheeks creek then with said Livert's line to the widow Ussery's line thence to Edmond Green's line 
thence with others to Robt Powell's lines thence to Squire Robinson's line thence to the river thence up the Various Courses of said river 
to the first station including all the lands within said bounds belonging to me.

Item  I give and bequeath to my son Robt J Steele the following lands (to wit) it being all the lands I have in Montgomery County on both 
sides of the Uharey river and its waters.

Item  I give and Bequeath unto my son John Steele the Following lands (to wit) Beginning at a corner of William Hendley tract near the road 
and about three hundred yards of Watson Webb's Shop then direct to the road and with said road to Webb's Spring branch thence down the mianders 
of said branch to cheek's creek thence No 45 west to Henry Ranold's line thence with his line to Turner's line thence with his line to James B.
Ussery's line thence with his line to Joseph Gadd's line thence with Gadd's line to the land formerly owned by Martin Ussery thence to William 
Bogeman's line thence to Cheair's line and with Cheair's line to the first station also all the lands that I own on the North side of little 
river in Montgomery County including the plantation whereon William Smith Formerly lived.

Item  I will and Bequeath unto my son William G. Steele the following lands (to wit) beginning at John Steele's beginning corner of the Hendley 
tract thence with his line to Ranold's line thence with Ranold's lines to Edward Chamber's line to Polly Steele's line thence to Robert Livert's 
line then with his line to the Widow Ussery's line to Edmond Green's line and with his line to Thomas Usher's line thence with his line to Cheair's line then to the beginning including all in said Bounds also all lands I own on the west side of the Pee dee river including the mineral spring tract in the county of Montgomery and others.

Item  I will and bequeath unto my son Robt J Steele all the land owned by me in Roan County No Carolina.

Item  I will and bequeath unto my four sons and Daughter Polly two beds and Furniture of each one Cow and Calf each and equivalant in other 
household Furniture to my Daughter Elizabeth Little and all the rest of my Perishable property to be Equally Divided between my four sons and 
two Daughters and if they cannot agree in the division, for it all to be sold by my Executors on a twelve months credit and the money to be 
Equally divided

My will and intent is that if my money and debts Due me will not be sufficient to satisfy all my Just Debts that the property so divised shall 
be liable in porpotion to the value of each ones part for the same

I likewise constitute appoint and ordain my two sons Thomas Steele Robt J Steele and Robt Powell Executors of this my last will and testament
ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness where of I have here unto Set my hand and seal this 
26th July in year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred and Fifteen signed sealed and published in the presence of us-
