STACY FLOYD GIBSON - 1931-2007

Mr. Stacy Floyd Gibson, of Charlotte, died July 26, 2007 at the Carriage Club in Charlotte, NC.
He had been residing there for two years. He was born on January 18, 1931 in Hamlet, NC to James Floyd
Gibson and Dora Gibson. He was a graduate of Hamlet High School and Catawba College. He served four
years in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He retired in 1996 from Wachovia Bank and Trust after
working 28 years with the company. Mr. Gibson was in failing health for the past ten years and was
residing at the Carriage Club in Charlotte at the time of his death.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his son, Stacy Floyd Gibson, Jr. in 1993. He is survived by his wife
of 35 years, Angie Gibbs Gibson of Charlotte; one daughter, Susan Gibson Heck and husband, Michael Heck,
of Williamsburg, VA; three step-children, Connie Beal Bundy and husband, Mackey Bundy, of Charlotte, Alan
Beal and wife, Jenny Crenshaw Beal, of Raleigh, NC, Amy Beal Crofoot and husband, Robert Farrington Crofoot,
of Norfolk, VA; three grandchildren, Andrea Kiriley and Stephanie Rohrbach of Virginia, Christopher Gibson
of Charlotte; eight step-grandchildren, Jessica Stamey, Kathryn Lofland and Anna Stroud of Charlotte, Benjamin
and Brittany Beal of Raleigh, Alexandra, Elizabeth and Jack Crofoot of Norfolk, VA; and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Gibson was an avid golfer his entire life. When he retired from Wachovia Bank, he was asked to be on the
Golf Course Design Committee for Ballantyne Golf Course. Unfortunately, due to his illness, he was never able
to play the course. He was, however, grateful for the opportunity to be on the committee and to have an office
building named in his honor on the golf course.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Care of the Carriage Club and the Hospice at Charlotte
for their wonderful care of Mr. Gibson in his last few months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
contributions to be given to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204; Providence
United Methodist Church, 2910 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211; or any charitable organization of their choice.
A memorial service will be at Providence United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 30. The family will
greet the guests after the service. Arrangements are in care of Neill Funeral Home in Mooresville, NC.
